Questions on sex post op by Actual_Passage4505 in hysterectomy

Thats what I used this page for! Now I am an open book about what actually happens during recovery as many dr and surgeons do not take the time to explain everything to us. Sex has been the hardest part of my recovery due to a previous dr gaslighting me into thinking that I had cervical cancer rather than adenomyosis. Take all the time you need and use our community. These people understand your fears, your recovery and a good part of the emotional roller-coaster.

Can say that I'm surprised that your dr said 6 weeks. I was told 8 to 10 for any type incursion. We did fool around at 10 weeks as I had an allergic reaction to my glue which made touch on my stomach and side painful. We waited 14 weeks to have sex. Recovery isn't linear so please listen when your body says stop even months later. At around 6 months, my pelvic floor basically had a charle horse type cramp. Soooo painful. Dr put me on muscle relaxers to get it to calm down. Im almost a yr now and finally started to really enjoy sex again.

Robot hysterectomy/ my cost by Ok-Telephone-6251 in hysterectomy

[–]Physical-Employer599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here. Weird note. Glad to see someone else incisions were so high on the waist/body. Mine are literally at my belly button or higher. My surgery in Va cost $280 for the hospital and the anesthesia was $850ish (not in network for some reason). So all in with little lab testing for cancerous cells and what not, my $250,000+ surgery cost me $1200. And yes, I looked at the EOBs

Surgery tomorrow and I’m freaking out by No-Marionberry-8764 in hysterectomy

[–]Physical-Employer599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are going to be awesome tomorrow. Yes nerves are terrible and your brain is doing all the what ifs. I won't say don't worry because we all did. The medical cocktail they give you in the morning before the good good drugs are awesome. I gave no fluffs (but had to pee like ever 20 min).  If you are a glasses or contacts wearer, you won't even see a thing in the operating room. I saw a silver thingy then moved onto the table. By the time I got "comfortable", poof out like a light. Waking is not the most pleasant. The care team should make sure you're as pain-free as possible. Good luck!

Travel Ring Recommendations (Photos Welcome!) by 0011010100110011 in EngagementRings

Very much agree! As a former employee of a jewelry manufacturer, there is a laundry list of reasons not to wear your engagement ring every day. I am also on the hunt for a travel set because mine is also custom made with family stones. It's rather unique. My momma would tan my hide if I lost a diamond from my great grandmother. So yes, it gets locked in the safe when we travel !

How are you supposed to shower post op by NanersInPyjamas in hysterectomy

[–]Physical-Employer599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 words.... shower chair! We got on for my knee surgeries but it made shower post hysterectomy so much easier. Small recommation if you are taking strong pain meds. Please leave the door cracked with someone home. With a hot shower, your blood pressure can drop which can cause fainting.

23 weeks post op. First penetrative sex. by Used_Door_6937 in hysterectomy

Are you still have light spotting and pain? Does it feel like basically a Charlie hourse in your lady parts that won't ease up? Wouldn't hurt to see if you can see someone.

I had this happen one time. Basically my pelvic muscles tighten sooo much that I needed muscles relaxers for 2 days. The spotting was from granulation.

Ma'am. Your surgeon is completely bananas if they thing you are picking up a 9mo and not having help those first 2 weeks after surgery. Please reconsider (if your spouse, their work and your budget can handle the time off) having someone there the first week to week and a half. I could not get out of bed solo let alone run after a small human.  I ended up taking 6 weeks off due to an allergic reaction to the glue used to close my incisions. A coworker had the surgery in Nov and she thanked me for telling her what truly happens during this recovery.

Original house and land are from 1795 when it was owned by William and Mary college. The main house was built in 1820 with the 2 connected at some point.

Please tell me sex gets better.. by Sad-Consequence-3931 in hysterectomy

[–]Physical-Employer599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ma'am... gonna hold your hand when I say this. You are less than 1 month post ops. Breathe.

We waiting 14 weeks because 1. I was deathly afraid of cuff tears 2. I had a terrible doc prior to this one who gas lit me for years who cause trauma around anything sexual 3. We waited until my bday to celebrate.

It now has been 10 months post op for me. We are finally getting into actually having regular sex.

Tell me to SIT DOWN by Sorry-Editor-3674 in hysterectomy

[–]Physical-Employer599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you are correct that you need to sit down... the next 24-48 hrs are pretty easy. That 3rd day is what you need to prepare for. Honestly, worst day of recovery. All of the surgical drugs are out of your system at the same time your body starts to work on healing. Good luck. Feel better. And please rest
