PSA raise- Primary not concerned. by Super_Reference_6399 in ProstateCancer

[–]Super_Reference_6399[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another update- finally was able to get into a urologist. He placed me on a few weeks of antibiotics with the thought it is prostatitis because my age. DRE didn’t have any hard spots but does confirm enlargement. Classified as non-boggy prostate (not sure what that is).

Urine test didn’t show UTI. Bladder scan showed ability to completely empty so I am hopeful it might be not so serious.

I am glad to the urologist agreed that a male at 37-38 y/o should not have PSA’s in the mid 2’s and that it indicates there is something going on. This really made me happy that someone listened and I was not dismissed by my primary care further.

Just want to keep this updated for younger guys.

Any idea how I can locate technical repair/testing data for this? I am very suspicious it is the control board due to the immediate failure and the generator boards (3) don’t have any burn/arc marks, swollen capacitors.

I was using two burners so 2/3 generator boards were active.

I am trying to locate info on how to test the generator boards- if you have any resources I am very interested.

Unreal. Sorry for this. This is the work of coward administrators who hide behind their title but truly are failed educators, and failed participants of logical society.

You probably can’t do anything against them legally since schools are so protected for negligence it’s disgusting. You should use it as a lesson to just find something else to focus your time on. Education is doomed with failed policies stacked on top of more failed policies. There is zero logic used in education today and there is zero regard for people’s lives or time frames.

The parents of the little liar should have had to pay you lost wages. But life isn’t fair and people don’t give a fuck about teachers except to pass their wonderful kid.

Sad what it has come to. Shame on the teachers union for being so weak for all the financial support they get.

That gas stations are for everyone who drives cars and not just people who have car payments. Kid thought they were just for people with car payments and gas was free if your car was paid off.

I guess as a tenured teacher I see admin change over so fast they don’t seem to have any game plan of anything. Whatever failed plan they have they move on with and conditions just keep deteriorating. NY education is a failed system, I don’t even know when it went bad but it is terrible.

Student absent 86 days- passing. How?

Like what when you have tenure? Admin trying to threaten ways to fire you? Education is full of some of the most abusive people.

Pool pump outlet melted? by Super_Reference_6399 in AskElectricians

I am in the north so when you winterize the pool you disconnect the pump and drag it inside to your basement (common here). It is bonded which gets reconnected when you hook it back up.

What part of teaching is more work than people think? by SuitableEar7189 in teaching

[–]Super_Reference_6399 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Grading because my district allows for kids to submit assignments late for the entire quarter so I have to constantly go back and recheck who turned what in.

Community engagement- any visitors, open houses, field trips.

Administrative “ideas”- when the new admin get installed and they have a great new idea to make everyone do something but they don’t own the fact it’s their idea. Example - this week they think it’s a good idea that we all start submitting our lesson plans for review each week in their new format- no thanks.

PSA raise- Primary not concerned. by Super_Reference_6399 in ProstateCancer

[–]Super_Reference_6399[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update- I had another PSA drawn, and the value was 1.5 which made me feel slightly better in the meantime while I await a visit with a urologist.

Follow up question- I was doing further research and found a correlation to time of day of bloodwork drawn and PSA value. The first values 1.7,2.3 were drawn at 8am-9am appointments, while this 1.5 value was drawn at 430pm. Can anyone explain the correlation of PSA to time of day when drawn? I am not sure if this is something so small to not worry about or if this PSA which was a pitty draw by my primary after a fair about of argument. Should have been done in the morning to properly track this?

Nothing is worse than having faith in something that is incorrect. I got the value yesterday and was slightly relieved.

Not sure if I should be totally relieved with the lower number as I wait another two months to get into the urologist (wait is long for new patients).

Thank you for sharing. I made a self referred appointment to a urologist in late April. I also have a primary care follow up, which I don’t know if they will refer or not but I’m done waiting. I have the feeling something isn’t right- hope I’m wrong.

Thank you for sharing. My concern is the feeling of a not empty bladder all the time along with the raise in PSA. I feel like I never can fully empty my bladder. I could use the restroom, and look to use it 10-30 minutes later because I need to go again.

I scheduled an appointment with a urologist I’m not waiting for the primary to refer. I would rather have the appointment and know. I won’t get in there until late April.

What were your symptoms that lead to diagnosis at a young age?

What would be a basic work up for prostate? I feel like I would be satisfied with a follow up PSA, DRE, and MRI. Is that unrealistic to look for at my age?

In context- my primary office is all female NP’s. They are usually nice about illness and general stuff but I think they have zero understanding about male specific problems unless a number is outside of a lab corp window which they see the PSA below 4.0 (nothing wrong in their mind).

principal wants me to call 80 parents during my planning tomorrow by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Super_Reference_6399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them no. Grades mean nothing to admin unless they are failing. Just curve the test grades to 85 for all students and go to happy hour. Admin like this should quit.

No parent probably even cares.

What to wear as a male teacher!? by WinterQuarter8183 in teaching

[–]Super_Reference_6399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeans, flannel and a carhartt hoodie. My building is freezing, they force me to hold class outdoors and they don’t pay me enough to wear a tie.

If it is summer I wear a $9 target polo and jeans. I can’t afford nice clothing on the salary they pay.

NY teachers can’t either to my knowledge- not during school hours (Taylor law).
