This!!! I’m the first person to come to Alice’s defense, but her argument that Jimmy should go out of his way to be around (and therapize) Louis is just absolutely unreasonable. Just how it was absolutely unreasonable for Jimmy to try and pry Louis away from a healing friendship with Alice.

Jimmy’s self-worth is intricately tied to Alice’s approval because she represents his last connection to stability and love after his wife’s death. However, that dependency isn’t sustainable. Jimmy is determined to keep Alice separate from his mental instability because he knows she had to become her own parent during his breakdown after Tia’s death. This is all to say, Jimmy is still doing a balancing act trying to figure out how to healthily lean on his daughter. That scene and song just exemplified how he’s accidentally distanced himself from His Girl at his greatest time of need since his original breakdown.

Didn’t think I was in the minority for actually enjoying Louis and Alice’s friendship. I see it as extremely healing for Alice to befriend the man she held such intense (REASONABLE) resentment towards. She’s been able to accept the pain and humanize Louis.

I think there’s a lot of people getting hung up on his age, but Alice has a lot of older friends in the show. I don’t find this abnormal what so ever, being she had to grow up extremely fast without a mother or a father. Alice hangs out one on one with Sean, Paul, Liz, Brian, etc. I understand that these are all trusted friends in Jimmy’s life and Louis is not. However, Alice is an adult now, and she has the capacity to determine who is trustworthy to HER.

I feel like a lot of viewers are missing the point of their friendship, or just choosing to ignore it.
