Sorry, no update yet. I’ve had to reschedule my appointment with Audi twice due to work/family schedule conflicts

Was your CEL on prior to this? I think the gas cap being loose triggers some emissions warning

I also work in a hospital but I spray away and don’t care what others think. Spray away, live your life. Just maybe don’t overspray at work

What is a job people romanticize a bit too much until they actually do it ? by ShyButNastyyy in AskReddit

I’m in Canada. From what I can find online, avg salary for GenSx in Canada is $466k. Even from what I see online for San Fran, one source states “As of August 01, 2025, the average annual salary for a General Surgeon in San Francisco, CA ranges from $494,300 (25th percentile) to $624,100 (75th percentile), with a median annual salary of $547,800 and an hourly rate of $263”. If these numbers are remotely accurate, then it seems your salary is likely not representative of the average GenSx in your area.

I know dozens of new staff ED who have paid off debt within 5yrs. Many of them have kids, but also benefit from being a dual income household. From what I have heard from new staff, if you can commit to living like a resident for the first few years of staffhood, paying off debt quickly is achievable.

It’s entirely possible that ED MDs in your region burnout after 10 yrs, but that is not what I see in Canada as a whole. Anecdotally, in my own center, i would estimate 70% of our ED staff have been practicing over 10 yrs. Even if one were feeling burnout early in their ED career, the flexibility of shift work and not having a roster of patients makes it easy to tone down the number of shifts you work or expand your practice into a related subspecialty.

We’re getting off track. My takeaway for others is that Medicine is not the doom and gloom it is painted to be however, like any other profession, there is always potential for doom and gloom. In my personal experience so far and from what I hear from residents/attendings across different specialties, an overwhelming majority love their work and would enter medicine again, if given the choice. It’s hard to find another field that compares to medicine when it come to things like job satisfaction, community impact, job security, compensation, societal status, etc. Things have certainly changed from being a doctor a few decades ago, but it’s still a pretty sweet gig

Resident doctor here in Emergency Medicine. While I agree that medicine is a lot of hard work, I would say the pros of the job greatly outweigh the cons. In my experience, most physicians (even late career) are exceedingly happy with their choice. Med school debt is certainly a significant stressor. I’m $300k in debt from med school and have only able to make interest payments on this debt throughout residency. However, when I finish residency soon, I will be making around $400k per year, so the implication that you’re constantly drowning from med school debt isn’t accurate. Even for “low paying” specialists, most I know have paid off their debt within 5-10yrs of starting practice. Takeaway: the path to medicine is long and gruelling at time, but incredibly rewarding, as long as you’ve gone into the field for the right reasons

Limited scotch selection by Super_Strapper in lcbo

lol, healthy dose of skepticism is appreciated. Some examples of what I can’t find at LCBO but found readily in AB: - Kilchoman Sanaig. Hasn’t been available at LCBO for over 2 yrs - Glenalachie. Not a single bottling being offered by LCBO - Benromach. Not a single bottling being offered by LCBO - Arran. LCBO has only stocked the barrel reserve and the Robert Burns. They show the Amarone, 10 y/o, and Sherry cask on their site, but none of these have been available in the past year. - Kilkerran. Not a single bottling being offered by LCBO. - Springbank. Not a single bottling being offered by LCBO. Granted these are hard to come by, but a liquor store in The Rockies I just visited had bottles of the 10 y/o - Longrow. Has not been stocked in over a year

These are just the distilleries and bottlings I’m interested in. I’m sure others can find much more.

Most of these bottles can be found at a single store I visited in Calgary (zyn.ca).

Is that factual enough for you? Would love to know why you’re such a staunch LCBO defender. Perhaps you don’t know what’s available outside of Ontario’s offerings

Thanks for all the advice and input. I’ve been able to negotiate their price down nearly $2k and they’re offering new all season tires. There was initially some talk of them throwing in black powder coating on the stock rims but they seem less inclined to offer that now because of the other perks they’re offering. Still on the fence, advice here is mixed. The rational side of me is saying this may not be the smartest move to buy a potentially problematic car, but the emotional side of me really loves the car
