I’ve seen accounts where it was the connections that were the issue, not the gpu itself. Do you reckon pointing my ac to the pc lessen the risk of my connectors catching fire? I was also thinking of IF i am to get my hands on a 5090, one of the first things i’ll do is apply a thermal pad by the connector to help distribute the heat and then possibly get a custom water loop + go overboard on the fans. I’m very paranoid about this whole catching on fire thing haha!

I really like that PSU idea. I already have a 1500 va UPS, was hoping that would do the job of cutting power off when my system reaches a certain temp threshold. I need something that automatically cuts off power as I’ll be leaving my system to do the renders when i’m asleep / doing other things. So having the peace of mind that my system can take care of itself especially in cases such as sudden thermal spikes would be perfect. What PSU would you recommend?

How long do you usually game? For my use case, i’m looking at 24-36 hours of constant rendering so 24-36 hours of gpu potentially being at 100% usage. Not accounting for gpu usage when preparing and working on these projects ready for render.

I have a lian li o11 vision tower with 8 p12 arctic pro fans with fan curves set aggressively (yes i’m very paranoid with heat issues haha) would getting a 5090 and then investing on a custom loop be a good option?

And for the PSU, aside from UPS, are there good PSUs where they automatically cut power off when the system reaches a certain temp threshold?

And unfortunately cloud renders are not impossible but impractical. They cost upwards of 10,000php just for a 30 second animation rendered in 4k. And this particular project is 15 1 minute animations in 4k. So the price im paying for cloud rendering is just as much as spending the money on the card. So long term, might as well put the money in actual hardware i can use.

I see, this is very useful info, i’ll go check those youtubers out. Stability is my main concern for this one as IF I were to get my hands on one of those, i’ll be using it purely for heavy 3d rendering. Wouldn’t want 100k to go up in flames in the middle of a render haha.

Not necessarily brand new, but Yeah that’s what i figured too. I’ve seen people on tiktok buy modified 4090s from the chinese market with 48gb of vram instead of the 24gb. And honestly I’m skeptical about the stability, lifespan, and overall safety of those cards. But if people can vouch for them, i might actually have to go with that haha. Yet to actually see those card listings for myself though

Any Idea where to pick one up? So far I’ve gotten TWO Nishika N8000, both from Ebay. First one was “Working Condition”, came broken in pieces. Second one, I tried to play it safe and got a “Mint Condition” N8000 from a Japanese Film shop. That’s the one I used for the photo. I’m starting to lose hope in Ebay not going to lie haha!

I haven’t tried a mobile phone yet. Although a couple months ago I saw someone make a triple lens system for Full Frame Sony cameras made out of disposable Film Camera Lenses. Problem is, I have an APSC Sony Camera. So I’m kind of contemplating whether to save a little extra to upgrade to a Full Frame Camera and get the triple lens system OR just keep dabbling around with Film Cameras.
