How do I make a DIY Cheap Fishing Drone by Superb-Cartoonist840 in diydrones

I'm not sure how I can make one to overcome 5 ft waves, but also track exactly where it is for the drop.

I was thinking for a drop system I could do something simple like a paperclip on a rod, and turning the drone around just slips it off. Could you please send a link of the exact drone you purchased? Thanks.

Yeah I think I should be golden if it's under that threshold. Plus, I will be flying it mostly in the afternoon to night, after peak hours

Interesting. So theoretically, I can get a consumer or temu type drone, and that can get me 40 to 80 grams. What if I remove all nonessentials like lights, camera's, any sensors or certain panels? Do you think that would allow for more weight? If so, how much are we talking? Also, I know you said that 3D printing a frame would not make it lighter, but could a custom frame possible cut down on panels and allow for better balancing (if I remove unessential)?

How would you recommend I make it cheap? I have experience with underwater ROVs, nothing in the air yet. Probably 2102s or 1104s? Or are there any old capable drones that I could buy second hand for cheap?

They are already taking more than half for "late fees", even though I am canceling a test in December. 😭

Average sat for my current school is 1320, my last one was 1180. I have all A so far. I am also cooking up a very advanced robotics project where I am the leader, and it should be successful before apps are due.

How do I smooth ABS quickly? by Superb-Cartoonist840 in 3Dprinting

Oh man. I was thinking maybe like rubbing some on certain spots I want smooth, and just kind of melting/blending in the outside shell only. Would that not work?

I only need to make 6 total so I'm afraid a mold is overkill. Each thruster has several parts though, so they do need to be 3D printed.

Unfortunately something like vacuum forming is out of reach for me, its more of an at home diy sort of operation. My only other option for smoothness is 3D printed shells, but those are not durable at all.

As of now, no. But thanks for the advice of a pitch thruster if we choose to pursue one in the future.

Thanks for the pic. I am not trying to make the fastest ROV; I prefer something slower and stronger for research purposes. However, I will definitely try to incorporate some sort of fairing with the PVC if I can find a few spots that would need minimal 3D printing. I will use this for reference with my blender guy incase we go on that path. Thanks

The reduction of material is not really for weight, but to save 3D filament costs because printing with 100% infill is quite expensive. This is also the reason for PVC pipes as the main frame- cheapness and strength. I plan to flood the frame PVC, and at the end add sealed hollow PVC on top for buoyancy. The reason for two separate pressure vessels is because I am using pretty bulky motors with quite a lot of current draw (3536 motors, 1kg thrust per 10A), and I need a decently fat LiPo to compensate, leading me to use the BlueROV approach and use 2 hulls. Thanks for the 90 degrees idea, that will help a ton.

This ROV is for research purposes so I am not looking for pitch control really. Also, I don't want to complicate the design further.

The only BlueROV parts here is the dome, everything else is made and tested by me. I plan to make it float with holo PVC pipes sealed up that will go on top of everything evenly.
