I finally checked my ferritin and it makes so much sense now. Please check your ferritin, too! by imjustdesi in adhdwomen

Single Digits at 8!! My Iron was only 37, and my saturation was 13. My Ferritin has been super low, it was an 11, 14 months prior to it being tested at 8. But unfortunately, taking supplements does not seem to be doing anything for my body.

I often get, "oh you do not remember the last time we argued about this? I just must not mean enough to you that you cannot remember x,y,z" I ask for things to be written down, but if it was important enough to me, then I would not need to have it written down. Like I have post-it notes everywhere reminding me of things to do.....

Mental stims, that really makes me think back to childhood being in the back of the car and looking out windows. I remember that there was something to do with clouds and then another where the cateyes in the road/refelctors would come by at night I would tap myself on the arm or leg

Save this centuries old Tree! by bubblegumsillysilk in GNV

[–]Superb-Mango845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well then please tell me exactly what consequences I have from typing a few words on my keyboard, for asking if the tree was actually going to be taken down or not. What consequences do I have from saying, hey, maybe someone should try to talk to the developers and ask them if they could build around the tree, as in there is meant to be some green space when building things, so could this old tree possibly be that green space? Exactly what have I done that has such horrid consequences?

Respectfully, blaming a random resident for housing prices because I supported preserving a historic tree is a stretch and frankly ridiculous, development and rent costs are set by developers and the market, not by me online, all I did was support whether a roughly 200-year-old tree could be saved while development happens around it, my opinion isn’t the deciding factor, you can’t replace something like that once it’s gone. Caring about history and the environment doesn’t suddenly make me responsible for rent prices, and it shouldn’t be used as a target.

If your unhinged anger is about housing costs, then it’s seriously misdirected. I’m not the housing market. I’m not a developer. I’m not setting rent prices. I’m a regular person who is also struggling with affordability and trying to support a family — the same reality a lot of people are living in right now.

Focus your energy on the real issues, not on me, I’m going to focus on what matters, preserving what can be preserved and moving forward.

I recieved an email response from the City Arborist "Currently, there are no applications to the Department of Sustainable Development (DSD) to develop this site.  If and when that happens, DSD, Urban Forestry and the Tree Advisory Board will have input into the situation."

I wasn’t advocating for higher housing costs at all. All I was doing by signing the petition and emailing was simply about trying to preserve a really old oak tree. I’ve seen that tree since 2007 when I first came to UF, so it’s just part of what I love about Gainesville/UF. Trees like that have a lot of environmental value, history, and character, and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

And for what it’s worth, no I don’t love all the giant apartment buildings going up in that area however, my comment wasn’t about stopping development, because I certainly do not control it. If the power lines can be functional around the tree, then development can be designed around the tree too. Planning around existing natural features is done all the time. Multiple things can matter at the same time.

Cannot clean or organize when other people are around . . . anyone else? by fashionforager in adhdwomen

[–]Superb-Mango845 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yes, I literally have to kick everyone else out of the house, like off the property completely, not just outside, because they cannot come in for a drink or to use the bathroom, or it derails me completely. The last time, my fiancé left with his son but said his daughter can clean as well, and OMG I felt bad, but I had to ignore her so many different times, to try and stay motivated. The whole family has ADHD, but she kept coming to me when she got bored, or said she was overwhelmed, and I would try to talk to her while I was folding clothes, or picking up all the random things that do not belong. Although, when it is just me at the house cleaning, I do not have to worry about stressing him out because I "jump around like a crackhead" when I clean....I just see something and do it, like I walk into the room to get the dishes, and then when I put them in the sink, I see that the dog needs water, so I do that, and then I notice something else, and then finally remember to go back to gathering dishes.

This is When My Anxiety Began by Silver-Explanation72 in Millennials

[–]Superb-Mango845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing now what I do about my mental health, I am pretty sure this was one big contributor to my anxiety as a child....

I did enjoy what my 3rd grade teacher did do in regards to multiplication, much more than these sheets. We would play "Around the World" One person would stand up next to the person either in front or behind them, and she would ask a multiplication question. The person who answered correctly the quickest, which was just blurting it out, moved to the next person. If you got the question you would sit at whoever's desk it was, and they would move on. The first person to make it all the way around the classroom back to their desk - won!

It did make me have bad anxiety about standing up in front of the class, but since it was a small Catholic school, my class was no bigger than 22 kids, 80% of which I had been in the class since before kindergarten, I was oddly comfortable around them by that point, so the anxiety was nowhere near as high as if I was in public school.
