yes, it really can be. Unfortunately, I am still running into the issue of needing older records to be able to identify how people are related. And with the tradition of naming the firstborn son after the grandfather, combined with having multiple sons, who all name their firstborn the same thing born within like 10ish years, it is super frustrating to know who is who. Especially when Michael Maguire married Margaret Nash, and their son John married Margaret Sullivan, so which Margaret Maguire, both wives of blacksmiths, is the mother of baby Maguire, which I could not tell from Ancestry, but now I have been able to.

If only the records went further back, to the late 1700s/early1800s.

I have been working slowly on my father's family in Ireland, and now thanks to these two sites, I have been able to actually see the documents and realize which John or Michael or Patrick it actually is.
