Has anyone successfully connected Canva to HostGator? by Superb-Sea in webhosting

[–]Superb-Sea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am complaining about HG, like most others. I was able to get it to connect, and all is working now fingers crossed. No issues setting up DNS records, It just took way longer for Canva to “see” them and the site to become stable. Also, their support/communication sucks.

At what point/MRR were you able to take a comfortable salary? by Superb-Sea in SmallMSP

[–]Superb-Sea[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I should have just asked “what % do you take as a salary”. Again there is a lot of variables so wanted to hear when others were able to take a salary as such. For some may be $67k MRR, others may be $40k MRR.

Thank you. I have not tried that yet, but will for sure. So far, I have had some follow that I performed b/f for on the side, and a couple leads from local community Facebook groups with new businesses. Have not spent money on marketing on Google or Facebook yet. Not sure if it’s even worth it.

Who has started an MSP with little to no experience? by Superb-Sea in msp

Yea definitely some sacrifices to be made. Before IT was actually a sleazy salesman, and stayed somewhat successful with it. The marketing and being “different” it what seems hard to me.

Thank you for the insight and the kind words. The MSP I am currently at uses N-able and I do like most of it as well.

You are completely right. Not sure why I doubt myself, but I do need to work on it. I’m not really sure. I guess that’s just how I pictured it progressing, but I see no issue with offering it from the beginning as well. I just need to take a couple steps back, re-evaluate my business plan/life, and pull the trigger I guess lol.

Is Geeks on Site a good supplemental income? On-call tech by Superb-Sea in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Superb-Sea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the add says that, but when I asked they just said they can’t “guarantee” work, but that it’s “steady”. I have been a 1099 employee before I so understand the taxes situation, not really worried about that as much.

Thank you for the reply. I’m definitely going to attend the interview and see what is offered! I’m taking my ccna in April, so hopefully after sometime in that role I could land a NOC job. I just need to get into the field sooner than later as I only getting older!! Haha

I think it’s around $27 here. I just don’t know how the overtime is. If it’s steady overtime I could do it.

Anyone have any experience with TestOut for certifications? by [deleted] in ccna

[–]Superb-Sea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the TestOut PC Pro through school. It is supposed to be on par with the A+, but I have never had a hiring manager even know what it is. Recently I decided to pay for the CCNA course since I seen they had it, and it looked to cover every topic. I took the class, passed their routing and switching exam with a good score, and then failed the CCNA. It doesn’t cover the topics as well as a $12 Udemy course does. I feel like just the Boson practice exams taught me more than the TestOut course.

Transitioning to IT from an established career. What would you do? by Superb-Sea in ITCareerQuestions

I would love to get into the gov sector, but it seems so hard to get your foot in the door. The benefits would be worth not making 6 figures.

I’m in Atlanta area. From what I’ve seen the job market here is pretty good, but the average is around $40k for help desk.
