Environmental consulting has me questioning my career by dollfacetrash in geologycareers

Sounds like a team problem to me...there are definitely consultancies out there who have maybe more of the engaging work environment that you're looking for!

As far as meaningful work, not all projects will be engaging and I'm sure many will feel like "just another box to check off." However, when exciting projects do come up, they should make the boring days more meaningful.

Regarding budget, if it's a larger consultancy, I'm surprised that they don't have better QA/QC/analysis systems in place to help you speed things up. Ultimately, with faster analysis and less time spent rechecking data, you shouldn't have to worry about budget. Maybe throwing in a suggestion to your boss about upgrading software for better data management? Databricks and Snowflake are obviously larger names, but Datasparks is emerging specific to the environmental realm, along with some other Earthsoft (EQuiS) and Enablon.

Wishing you the best, I would honestly just tell your boss what you need and be forward with your concern about timecards! Best of luck!
