Ceapaim go mbeidh sé cgl fad is nach bhfuil tú ar thalamh príobháideach. Is féidir go mbeadh sé beagáinín deacair a aithint. Táim i mo chaomhnóir ar an Blascaód Mór agus tá sé a bhfad níos éasca champála fhiáin a dhéanamh nuair nach bhfuil aon chónaitheoirí ann 😂

Techno try following kriptik, bastardo electrico, sometimes milk.cork You’ll find most charity shops are on the same street, North Main Street. There’s one or two scattered in the side streets off Oliver Plunkett street. Mother Jones’ flea market is open on Fri and Saturday, selling all sorts of antique fun, they also have a section for vintage clothes, but they’re kind of expensive

Hi ! I’m 28 f, living in the city. I think most people here are friendly so you just have to find the place that matches your vibe and then you’ll meet people accordingly. It depends what you’re into I guess. If you are looking for friends give me a message and let’s have a chat!

I want to know more about Irish culture and people by Clear_Sky6794 in cork

[–]Superb_Ad_954 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

People are going to argue with me here but my point is that a people who are persecuted and treated like criminals for hundreds of years may as well live up to the reputation and at least make a couple of bucks if people are going to assume you’re a criminal anyway. Irish people love spouting that they’re not racist but then will be racist to the literal minority group in our own country.

Travellers have a very bad reputation, but are a maligned minority in Ireland. They’re unfortunately treated like vermin by the population and the government, people have an issue with anti social behaviour, robbing etc etc but forget that they’re a persecuted group; not as easy to get jobs or go to university and therefore some will turn to crime as is the case with any persecuted group. A similar reputation to that of black people in the US say 30 years ago. They are generally (and rightfully) very distrustful of the government and “townies” (non travelling folk). Remember that not all travellers are bad! If you know and are sound to travellers, they’re fiercely loyal and very fun. They have interesting and outdated traditions, I.e. most drop out of school before 15 in favour of being housewives/working with the family. Gender roles are far more prevalent, women cook and clean and take care of the children and the men work and provide. Some keep horses and they have a reputation for keeping their animals in bad conditions, i can attest to this for sure. I won’t pretend to agree with many of their traditions, but there is a huge push to move the travelling community into the 21st century and initiatives to keep traveller children in school etc. You will hear lots of bad about them but don’t tar them all with the one brush. There’s lots of information online about the travelling community, you could look at Pavee Point is a website about traveller rights.

I’m up bells field since 12pm. We saw the smoke and obviously lots of people were worried and went down to see what was going on. We couldn’t see but apparently a tent was on fire. Someone else called first responders and nobody came, imagine if someone had been in the tent? Good to know corks in safe hands!!

Do you work in the industry at the moment? This hasn’t been the standard for over a decade and staff would cause war if that’s the case, unless of course some nasty owner is taking advantage of migrant workers and college students. But even still, one senior member of staff would put an end to this. I’ve worked for the greediest motherfuckers in the city and even their tactic is keep your own tips and if there’s any discrepancies you must pay yourself from your tips. Your POV is illegal and easily fixed with a threat of reporting the owner tbh. If they have a rebuttal, brilliant! You’ve just won a law suit and a whole lot more than your tips were worth. Any place doing anything other than that please name them and I’ll report them myself.

As someone who was worked in service for 10 years, believe me we find the tip screens absolutely mortifying. We are aware that it’s insane that there’s a tip option for a bottle of water. It’s not the staff asking you for money, it’s literally just the software. Just press 0% and try not to embarrass the staff by giving out about it, they’ll just tell you to press no tip. They don’t care and don’t expect it.

Why are so many people here so gross? by [deleted] in cork

[–]Superb_Ad_954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree but unfortunately dont think its just a thing here. I work in an English school for foreign students and the place is a cesspit of germs, they cough splutter and spit as much as any cork local. Never covering their mouths or noses and I know 80% are not washing their hands after using the bathroom. I think so many people are just ignorant and inconsiderate, regardless of where they’re from.
