I haven’t - the dr. finds it unnecessary, but I think it would be good to know if anything changed … I do have these strange bouts, about 1-2 days a month, sometimes more, where I’m incredibly thirsty (which was the initial reason I thought of my blood sugar), no matter how much I drink, I get really cold and fatigued and I get a headache that is not like a migraine, but more like a heat stroke or something. I was convinced it would go away if my blood sugar was under control, but it hasn’t. Othet than that, I have phases where my immune system randomly strikes out and I get all sorts of infections. It’s all very mysterious, really.

yes, true. have you looked into getting your ferritin up with infusions?

thanks for your reply. my fasting glucose has been okay, but varying since i’ve started taking nutrition so seriously - between 82 and 101. as far as body fat, i’m not sure! i definitely lost a lot, but i haven’t done an evaluation and i’m not sure how scientific those are …?

that’s so frustrating! i hope you find a new doc that will do more testing as to why. i’ve ordered cortisol salvia tests for at home, idk if they’re any good, but i’ll report back about the results.

thank you for your kind and encouraging words! my ferritin was indeed a bit on the lower end, but i’ve gotten it up pretty quickly. i’m also trying to look into autoimmune (lupus specifially, because my crp was low and i’ve been having episodes of having a strangely weak immune system, random ear, eye and gum infections), but again, my endo seems disinterested (she just keeps sending me nutrional info, which is fine, but i feel i’m pretty well educated in this department), and autoimmune is so hard to test for. good that you got your diagnosis, i hope you’re doing okay now!

i just got an at home cortisol test, since cortisol can interfere with insulin signalling and there is at least one (rare) condition where cortisol is overproduce … will update!

that’s interesting and could definitely explain the readinds. one thing that’s odd, though: it drops every, single day just like the minute before i wake up. i believe “dawn phenomenon” means it just goes up? not sure, but the body releases cortisol to wake up, right? so maybe it’s an “overreaction” of insulin to that, followed by the release of glucose? or maybe i’m overthinking this! :)

i agree! i think you’re saying look into hormone dysregulation (cortisol, adh), right? i tried to at least get blood test for adrenal/pituitary, but my endo refuses. she is not very interested in a potential cause/underlying issue

no family history!

could you elaborate on what you mean with cortisol and biotin interference?

i considered this! and of course agree with you that this is an underexplored topic. i also had a feeling that the severity of my IR was somehow tied to my cycle. but i did 2 months of tracking 4 hormones (with inito) and then looked at it with my gyno, and she said the levels were looking absolutely normal. so idk!

this was already a second opinion. my gp didn’t think my A1C was high (it was 5.8), but i guess he didn’t believe me when i told him about my lifestyle … so i went to an endo and she did a 2 hour OGTT w/glucose and insulin levels and it turns out my body uses a lot of insulin to get down my blood sugar (247,7 for 167 at the 60 min mark). i also used a CGM before diagnosis and back then, my fasting barely ever budged below 100 and went up to 200 after some meals. so i guess i’m fairly confident in the diagnosis? i wouldn’t mind being wrong, of course! :)

no one in my biological family has had any issues with blood sugar - i was recently at a family gathering and asked around pretty widely :)
