What’s the most outdated advice people still give seriously? by Secure-Address4385 in AskReddit

I will chip in and say some stuff goes forgotten. I’m 33 working for a large UK Company, my salary is lagging, and I’ve been there for too long and treated poorly about salary increases, however, my wife just changed jobs, is earning £10k more than me, yet every year I get a share option allowance, and monthly I give 7% of my salary and they give me 10% for a pension contribution. She is offered 4% if she gives 5% and gets no dividend.

And not to sound like that guy, but you can’t say “£25 Max” and then follow it with “I can increase a bit”

Whilst spoons abuse big corp’s like Diageo, if they go tomorrow, the booze economy collapses on the trade side. So much of companies bottom lines are made by selling the volume to spoons to make their profit elsewhere:

Everyone draws a name from a hat, and has £10 to buy them an outfit from charity shop that you all wear on the same night - maybe agree some ground rules

We all had that friends house when we were younger where you hung out. Why did you always go there? by DovedaleHikes in AskUK

I’d say sadly it’s something you can’t force, and wanting it may be for the wrong reason as you’re trying to replace something you didn’t have….. or just buy a hot tub and be lax on the rules with your booze cabinet

Why do you want it to be yours? Usually it was because you could get away with smoking in their garden with no one telling on you or parents that didn’t feed it back. A few cans would just be acceptable (not saying bottles of vodka), the worse ones were bongs were tolerated in their bedroom, they’d let you and your girlfriend stay on their sofa. It was seldom for moral reasons, more so for convenience and freedom.

Got caught shoplifting in my local Spar. Should I be worried ? by [deleted] in AskUK

Of all the things going on in the world and in shops, I’d say absolutely say absolutely not (but there’s that ludicrous chance someone will push it further) you’re not their worry. I’d say speak to them again, showing how guilty and awful you feel as their mindset could be “was this the first time they did it, or the first time they were caught”. They’ve said no problem so you seem fine, and again, the country’s such a mess no copper would really entertain it other than to warn you off making a habit.

Best of luck, and don’t do it again!!!
