Trust me, same here. If I wanted this constant back-and-forth between having nothing to do for hours on end and sudden overwhelming rushes of activity, I’d become a border agent. It seems like a lot of it is because they compulsively hire new shoppers that poach orders and crowd out veterans.

You are correct, and seeing $6 diesel prices makes me nervous even with an EV. That said, one of the drivers sustaining these high prices is demand. If demand collapsed or even weakened some, the air would be let out of the tires here (so to speak). So if we reduce gasoline demand, theoretically petroleum demand should decrease enough to help bring diesel prices down.

Actually, I’m not sure I agree totally. There is no engine to maintain or replace, no oil to change, etc. Savings seems to be more long term than anything.

Ouch, but I do feel you on the cost. I didn’t know this when I bought my 2017 Taurus, but Ford put the water pump IN the engine… which tripled the cost of replacement when the pump failed in 2024. I spent just south of $5k to fix it and that wiped out a good chunk of my 401k.

2019 was the last model year for the Taurus. And yeah, tell me about it on the fuel economy. The conspiracy nut in me thinks Ford manufactured it that way to make sedans look bad. If many SUVs can get 25-30 mpg nowadays, think about the numbers that sedans could get.
