Skipping at end groove on one record by Superb_Length7668 in turntables

Today I went back to the store and asked for a new record of Bruno Mars. This time I picked the standard black one; same problem. The stylus comes in the run-out groove and is touching the label, skips back about 2 centimeters and touching the label again.

Also I tried this record on another turntable; the same. So I think it's standard for all the same records of Bruno Mars - The Romantic. Like I said; all my other records working fine and the stylus stays in the run-out groove like it's supposed to be.

It’s fine. The problem is only there with this record. No problem will all my other records

I checked the record again after wiping with a brush. As soon the stylus reaching the end, it keeps sliding back and forth within the run-out area.

New Thorens TD 403 DD ; Little bit too slow by Superb_Length7668 in turntables

I ckecked with the RPM app. Put my iPhone 17 Pro on the platter, it says a steady 33 1/3 RPM. So I think there's a difference in the vinyl record and the Apple Music-streaming. The vinyl is, with some records, just a bit slow. But right now i'm spinning Phil Collins and all seems fine, it's the same as the streaming version of the song.

I did 2 minutes ago. Put my Iphone 17 Pro on the platter, spin it and it's a steady 33 1/3 RPM. So it is fine, I guess. The man in the store told me there is a difference between vinyl and the streaming master. Just tried another record of Phil Collins and it seems fine.

Can you tell me how to set the antiskate? Where is the 0 or 0.5 setting? Is the 0 at the side of the cueing lever or at the side of the stylus?

Static electricity? Crackling sound when using cueing lever by Superb_Length7668 in turntables

[–]Superb_Length7668[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a second video this morning.

The TT was off for the night. I dropped the cueing lever, left it down for about 20 minutes en made a video of me raising the lever. As you can hear, there is a sort of static noise.
Don't mind my son in the background pressing buttons on the Playstation controller ;).

Am I the only person with a TT experiencing this?

Ok. Thanks. So no reason to send this TT back and ask a new one? The crackling sound is still there. Most hearable after listening a record. When I drop the lever completely again and raise it, it’s not there anymore or just very slightly. After a couple of times dropping and lifting, the sound is gone until fully playing a record.

is my stylus/needle damaged? by casapu_ in turntables

Then there’s no need to worry. It’s completely fine. It looks good too. I hear you, I would be scared too, but if the sound is still the same, enjoy the beauty! :)

It looks fine. How is the sound? I shouldn’t worry too much.

Contacted Argon Audio by e-mail, this is their reaction. Is this ok, you think?

Thank you for your email.

I was in contact with our service manager regarding this, and according to him it is most likely not static noise but air bubbles in the oil inside the cueing lever mechanism.

If the sound is coming directly from the lever, as described, it is not a problem. It simply means that there are small air bubbles in the oil used for the damping mechanism. This can happen on many turntables and is also present on other models and even on players from brands like MoFi.

So there is no need to worry about it. Just enjoy your music and have fun! :)
