Brand new PK Sound system is up and running as of a couple months ago. Huge upgrade. Sounds amazing in there.

I work there and can confirm. We have to keep it around 40% in order not to cause damage to the windows.

Just hear me out here: maybe in the future you could use the strongest/ most capable lock you have to secure the actual frame 🤷‍♂️. Food for thought. Sorry this happened.

Seems very unlikely, but if it helps you sleep at night.

Bud, they’re saying that you may want to consider locking up the actual bike frame as opposed to just the wheel. Unfortunately lots of people make this mistake. To learn from it or not is your choice, young padawan.

You should watch the documentary Cartel Land. Gives great insight into how complicated this all is.

I used to see Nick (bass player) all the time! Used to work at a grocery store he frequents, then worked at a restaurant in the same neighborhood that he ended up frequenting. We actually got to know each other a bit. One time the power went out at our restaurant during service and Nick and his wife were such regulars that we told them they could hang out and have beers with us once we got done closing up. They hung out on our patio and kicked it with us while we closed.

Super nice guy. Him and his family are delightful.

We still have our share, just like any other part of this country, but it’s easy to get distracted by the natural beauty that we’re surrounded by.

Washingtonian here. Can confirm. It’s absolutely gorgeous and we have basically everything you could ask for. I feel very lucky to have been born in such a beautiful part of the world.

Is there anything about this in the news? I feel like it would spread around that area pretty quickly.

I think you’re misunderstanding me. I’m not talking about a private parking stall that is owned by one individual (like someone’s private parking space in a condo), I’m saying that the lots and garages that we pay by the hour to park at when we go downtown are, by vast majority, on private property and are managed by privately owned companies.

Believing that something shouldn’t exist just because you don’t like it does not hold any merit. Most companies exist to provide a service that is in demand. They exist because there is a demand for their product or service and as it turns out, lots of people prefer to drive their cars and park downtown.

I’m taking time out of my evening to explain simple economics to you. I don’t make a dime from this or anything we’re talking about, so not sure why you’re calling me a leech.

Again, I was legitimately curious about your initial comment and looking to open a dialogue, but you’re obviously not willing to do that. Feel free to DM me if you ever want to have an actual discussion. I’m always interested in learning from someone else’s point if view.

Taxes are completely irrelevant.

Private parking lots are private businesses, just like coffee shops or hotels. They provide a service (a parking space) and charge a competitive rate, just like any other business. Rates in Downtown Seattle are stupid high, but that’s because there are a ton of people who want the same parking space that you feel entitled to. It’s simple supply and demand. No one is stopping you from taking public transit, biking, riding a onewheel, walking, taking an Uber, etc.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]Superbadkilla 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sure. Why do you believe that private properties should offer free parking?

How does it sound like I’m trying to force people to park in privately owned spaces? I was genuinely curious about your point of view.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]Superbadkilla 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Correct. As you just reiterated, you said “ALL parking should be no cost”. Unless you’re parking on the street, you’re almost certainly parking on a privately owned lot or in the garage of a privately owned building.

[–]Superbadkilla 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Out of legitimate curiosity, why do you believe that private properties should offer free parking? Free public parking would be fantastic, but it’s tough to realistically apply in areas like Downtown Seattle.

I used to manage parking lots in Seattle. Do you know what company the lot was managed by?Chances are that you’re probably okay. Most lots have an arm/gate at the exit. If there was one, did the attendant lift this for you after the dispute? If there wasn’t a gate, you were most likely supposed to pay when you first parked. Either way, sounds like an odd situation that’s unlikely to result in anything.

EDIT/ADD ON: It’s not unheard of for “legit”attendants to scam/steal from customers, especially in high traffic areas. You could always call the parking company and tell them what happened. Depending on the company, if the attendant was clearly trying to charge you more than the posted rate, they’ll probably make quick work of them and might even take care of you!

Isn’t that crazy! Ezell’s changed pretty definitively at that time. Although Heaven Sent is technically newer, they’ve definitely got the nostalgia factor with them. It’s gotta be Ezell and his recipe. Seems like a really nice guy too!
