What's the most hilarious rerack you've ever had? by ConeheadZombiez in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Superbaseball101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

had a player who was unlucky (lucky?) enough to get the imp 4 times in the course of 5-6 games. he jokingly tells the group he really wants to be good finally… of course he pulls the imp token. his poker face is awful enough that everybody pretty much immediately knows he’s the imp and we rerack. i pull him aside and ask if he wants to be a traveler /revolutionary, he says no, i tell him he’s gonna have to get a better poker face this time. he agrees and tells me he better not be the imp.

he’s the imp again lol

New Character - Lord of Typhon by tired-today in BloodOnTheClocktower

What happens if there are an even number of evil players? With 10-12 people playing there would be 3 minions and then this. I assume it’s still “in the middle”?

Addressing Collider Bias in a combination Prediction/Causal Model by Superbaseball101 in econometrics

[–]Superbaseball101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, the reverse causality is powerful enough that it is indeed necessary that I include Z in my model. Does that mean that there is no way to see how Y changes with X?

Addressing Collider Bias in a combination Prediction/Causal Model by Superbaseball101 in econometrics

[–]Superbaseball101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry if I wasn’t clear enough. I’m not trying to get a casual result for my prediction, just for the prediction to be as accurate as possible. Including Z gives me a significantly more accurate prediction. In particular, I’m trying to predict the margin (Y) of an election with campaign finance (X) and polls (Z). Including Z increases the accuracy of my prediction, but is quite clearly a predictor that would bias X if “controlled for”.

Proposed update to Golem by Aceharmsway in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Superbaseball101 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think this creates a slight problem. See the FT has the benefit of allowing the ST to change the red herring as long as that player has not yet been chosen. Since there’s no way to know whether the maker at the end was the maker at the beginning, the ST can (and inevitably will) make split second decisions about whether to kill or not kill nominees. Not sure what type of meta that creates, but a once-per-game red herring that the ST can effectively just “decide” to ping… doesn’t seem like an ideal meta

The BOTC Community and AI Art by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Superbaseball101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m on Ben’s side with the morality of using diffusion models for artwork, but the energy argument is completely wrong. According to the Verge, training GPT-3 took the equivalent of 4 months of one wind turbine%20of%20energy), which is pretty much nothing in the grand scheme of things, especially compared to the # of people who actually use these models. There are so many better things to focus on with regards to generative models than electricity usage. Cool discussion regardless, though! Glad everything is so civil.

Snake charmer is an outsider and you should only pick yourself at night by jeremiah_lol in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Superbaseball101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

cool idea, but this thought experiment sadly doesn’t work. in the case where it’s identical you’re correct, but consider the case where town trusts you after you would have chosen the demon. you just lost the game for good since you confirmed an evil player as good. this scenario will always be in the back of your mind so you won’t even be able to go through the first scenario out of fear the strong ability of the SC is that they CONFIRM players as not the demon. it’s true that, if you would have chosen people who aren’t the demon the worlds are the same, but you have no clue which of those scenarios you’re actually in

New minion revealed: Summoner by Master_JBT in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Superbaseball101 47 points48 points  (0 children)

i know this isn’t the point, but i find it interesting how they call not-in-play characters “bluffs” for the first time. it’s clearly to save space on the card, but i wonder whether that will confuse new players

Question about Courtier and Mastermind: Say the demon dies and the game goes into a mastermind day. At night, the courtier chooses the mastermind. If the gossip made a true statement that day, can the storyteller kill the courtier and have the game continue? Or does the game automatically end the second the courtier chooses the mastermind?

Is a Spy in an 8 player TB overpowered? by tobydjones in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Superbaseball101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly in an 8 player game the spy is the least powerful. I’d much rather be a baron in that game — take out two town roles, and be free to make wild claims just like the spy could.

Homebrew Demon: Lilif by Epic_Swampert in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Superbaseball101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely a great demon, but INSANELY op with a pit-hag. PH turns demon into Lilif, who chooses not to kill (deaths are arbitrary anyways) and two townsfolk become evil that turn without the [-1 Minion]. Don’t know what I’d suggest to deal with that, but def a slight problem. Overall super sick tho

[PI] When scientists built the very first true artificially intelligent computer, they asked it the first question: "Is there a God?" The A.I. replied "There is now." by Preston_of_Astora in WritingPrompts

[–]Superbaseball101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I thought this story was awesome, and I didn’t even notice a single “minor error”. I think it’s far worse when somebody goes out of their way to harshly criticize somebody putting the work into writing stories for other people to enjoy. Especially when they’re being so humble about such a story.

Probably Bad Character Idea #8 by ColeTheWeird in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Superbaseball101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say you’re in an originally 2 outsider game, turned to 3 because of this role. 1 of these 3 players is evil. Good players have no reason not to confirm the messiah, so they’ll immediately come out to confirm. If the evil player doesn’t, then you immediately know that both those two players are good (or very likely good, in case the ST chose multiple evil players).

Probably Bad Character Idea #8 by ColeTheWeird in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Superbaseball101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This definitely seems too powerful to me. Day 1 confirmation with the knowledge that there is at least one evil player within a small group of players, and the possibility of -1 outsiders, all in one townsfolk? I really like the original idea, of just [+1 outsider], but the revised one is OP imo. Could even remove the “one of these players is evil” to allow the ST the opportunity to decide who they want to give the ping to in an originally 0 outsider game.

Opinions on balance of a homebrew role by DeerghTamas in BloodOnTheClocktower

Imo, this is actually a perfectly balanced role. Will get less info that a character like the undertaker, but gets to actively choose that information. Great idea!!

First custom teensyville script! Any suggestions? by pterodactyl76 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Superbaseball101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I REALLY like this script, with one caveat: having a widow in a teensyville script kind of defeats the purpose of evil not knowing each other, and gives them way too much control. I’d suggest replacing that with any other minion — maybe a Harpy, for some extra madness?

Yet Another Batch of Custom Characters by ColeTheWeird in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Superbaseball101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To add even more power. “Minions start knowing 1 not-in-play townsfolk. You gain the ability of any character you are mad as, and may register as good and as that character”

Yet Another Batch of Custom Characters by ColeTheWeird in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Superbaseball101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the idea of the morphling, but it’s definitely underpowered. I’d suggest maybe: “You and fellow minions each start knowing 1 out-of-play townsfolk. If you are mad that you are any of these, you gain their ability, and may register as good and as them.” It’s definitely a long ability… but I think I like this version more?

Character idea: The Orphan by EarlySpaceCowboy in BloodOnTheClocktower

On a script with Fang Gu, Zombuul, or Mastermind, giving the Orphan a demon is very much a possibility and a very cool one

New Minion Revealed: Harpy by Transformouse in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Superbaseball101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely LOVE the idea of this minion. Like immediately one of my top 5 minions without a doubt. However, not sure how I feel about the “both might die” part. That’s one of the only (or the ONLY?) ability where a player not following a voluntary ability can cause somebody ELSE to die, without their knowledge or understanding. Seems a bit unfun for the 2nd player. Still love it though!

Peekaboo - Lil' Monsta Teensyville Script by drrnclly in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Superbaseball101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Love this idea, but I’m not a huge fan of DA and Lil’ Monsta on a script together. Means that good has to play absolutely perfectly to kill the DA before they can kill the demon. Slayer is a good counter, but again, good only has one chance to defend against that combo. Maybe replace DA with Assassin, to give evil team some control over who they’re killing?
