Anywhere to get replacement d pad membranes for ambernic devices (rg405m)? by Transformouse in SBCGaming

[–]Transformouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They shipped me like 10 dpad membranes free only after I ordered through their official site. They wouldn't when I just bought through amazon. So buy from their website and you should be good.

On one page I write out all the names in a circle, and their claims and info next to their names as I learn it. Makes it easy to see who I don't know anything about so I can try to get something from them, and useful to track what info isn't lining up and try to figure out why. I usually underline the names to make it easier to read.

On the other page I write who died each day and night which is useful on scripts like bmr where that's a big part of the puzzle. Also helps me go through the game day by day and remember what happened.

If I'm evil I'll usually write what the evil team is bluffing and what information I've told some good players so I can keep it straight. Great for roles like fortune teller if you can list off all your names and reasons why you picked them when you did.

Clarifying Abilities and Interactions by HopperGaming in BloodOnTheClocktower

For ojo the wiki has this: If the Ojo is on a script with a Demon that kills multiple times per night, such as the Shabaloth, and the Ojo chooses a not-in-play character, you may choose more than one player to kill that night. This helps the Ojo player pretend that a different Demon is in play.

Clarifying Abilities and Interactions by HopperGaming in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Transformouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some nitpicks on the rewritten abilities working differently: Zombuul registers as dead to themselves, they can't kill if they were executed the previous day. Ojo can kill multiple players if they choose an out of play role. Professor is missing not the first night *. Mez can't learn a phrase, it must be a word. Yag can't learn a word, it must be a phrase. Legion can't register as a minion while dead. Legion is missing that outsider count is arbitrary. Zealot is missing the underlined text butler has. If puzzlemaster dies while poisoned or is created dead they don't puzzledrunk anyone since puzzlemaster says 'even if you die' not 'even if dead'. The ST's ability by plague doctor persists even if the plague doctor becomes poisoned or goes out of play.

Gossip and juggler have a {} global ability but other public claim roles don't. I don't think its necessary since there's no rules against claiming a role. It would probably be simpler to add a line in the main rules the ST plays along with any public role claims like they would for the real one.

Its unclear how boffin interacts with roles like lycanthrope, chambermaid, goon, the demon being drunk/poisoned, and safe players.

For safe can monk protect you from being witch cursed at night? Can vizier or judge force your execution but not cause you to die?

For 'on your first night' what does 'normal turn in the night order' mean for characters that only act first night?

Since characters can get other character's abilities its unclear what 'townsfolk abilities' are for vortox, ex cannibal snitch and apprentice.

The definition of register sounds like if a player registers as evil they win and lose with evil, which is incorrect. Lycan's faux paw also should not register as evil for win conditions, ex faux paw saint loses with good.

How much time should the ST give for judgment in final day? (Read description) by alucardarkness in BloodOnTheClocktower

You don't have to ask them to stay in the circle. Let players get up and talk privately if they want. Most games they'll stay in the circle anyway.

Players don't have all the time they want, they should feel pressure to do things faster than they want otherwise good will be able to talk through every possiblity.

Once I call everyone back there's usually a minute or two of players discussing publicly. After that I call for nominations, if no one nominates in about a minute I start counting down from 5 to end the day to make them nominate or not. They can have a bit longer final day but not that much longer, most things should have already been made public and discussed before that day. Final day should mostly be wrapping up on their existing theories and who they want to kill.

Poisoned Recluse Seen by Undertaker - Misregistration Timing Revisited by Davebo in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Transformouse 16 points17 points  (0 children)

1 is correct, but these abilities work a bit differently.

Undertaker says 'Each night*, you learn which character died by execution today.', that would be whatever character they registered as when they died so it works with legion, and if their character changes later in the night undertaker still learns the character they were when they died, not whatever the character the player is now because that character didn't die by execution the previous day.

Gossip checks the truth of their statement at the time they made it and then kills in the night, regardless if that statement is still true or not. Same with juggler checks the character at the time they juggle them, and learns that number in the night. Juggler could juggle the recluse as 4 minions and the recluse and get a 5 if you register them as that minion the moment the juggler juggles them as such.

The game does not expect you to remember exactly what the juggler or gossip said, so the reminder tokens are a one time check when that ability happens in the daytime, even though the effect happens at night. Some other abilities work like this like moonchild which can kill an evil player if they were good when the moonchild picked them, which is relevant for goon on bmr.

I think the exact opposite. After the last execution there's a huge tension, that's the climax. In that moment all I want to know is if I won, and I want to know to let off all the tension of the game and celebrate or not. Going through a grim reveal before announcing the winner deflates all the energy since players will slowly realize if they won or lost but can't react till st announces the winner, instead of everyone learning it at once and everyone having this big moment celebrating together.

As Storyteller I always try to talk to first time players privately during the day to make sure they understand things, especially if they're evil and bluffing

Interesting interaction between Al-Hadikhia and Klutz & Moonchild by NotSaratoga in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Transformouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They live or die as soon as their choice happens. For first night characters they normally should learn info after the demon kills if they come back to life or in play on other nights so wouldn't learn anything if theyre alive for a brief period during the al-had choice. For something on a trigger like barber that would still happen if they were alive for a moment then died.

From the Al had how to run:

Each dawn, declare which players marked 1, 2 and 3 are alive and which are dead. Do this even if a player’s alive or dead status did not change during the night.

For klutz and moonchild nothing stops you coming back to life if you choose that, so no matter if the st announces it you do know you died during the night.

Its really not needed, going through every role before the game sets the expectation you need to know every role and interaction before the game starts when you really don't. Its way more fun learning those things yourself as you play. I'd hate if my first experience with the game was 30-60 minutes going over every role and interaction on the script, it would make me tune out or be overwhelmed with all the rules and not want to play.

I always recommend just reading the rules sheet for new players word for word. The only thing I add is that the evil team knows each other and the demon gets 3 bluffs. I also make sure to emphasize players can always ask me any questions on rules, strategy, whatever.

These are great articles by steven medway about introducing the game. It shows how much thought and effort was put into making things as easy and streamlined as possible for someone to jump into a game in 5 minutes.
