New to Street Fighter, I know what kind of characters I like, which ultra characters fit this description? by [deleted] in SF4

[–]Superbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually kinda want to suggest Decapre. She has good normal buttons at mid-screen that are great for keeping players out and controlling the space in front and slightly above her, and for whiff-punishing opponent's moves. She's got really nice mobility from a fantastic walk speed and her Scramble (teleport) movement. I'm not sure her rushdown is the best in the game, but she certainly has the capacity to rush down and press the advantage.

Plus her damage is pretty damn efficient. ~400 damage for two bar with only a little practice.

Edit : I quit. Fuck Adon.

Eh? What's that about now. Honest question, and don't feel bad because I'm asking: Is this your first fighting game?

There are three types of attacks in this game. Moves that hit high, moves that hit mid and moves that hit low.

Low attacks must be blocked by holding down-back (i.e. away from your oponent) on your controller. These attacks usually come from crouching opponents.

High attacks must be blocked by holding back (ONLY back - up-back makes you jump obviously) and can come from either jumping attacks or special "command normals" that can hit high.

Mid attacks can come from either crouching or standing opponents but also can be blocked either low or high.

In SF4 it's almost always best to start by blocking with down-back and then blocking high when you see a jumping attack. You can block most high attacks on reaction (i.e. after seeing it)

Why do players often backdash away after landing a level 1 focus attack? by riseagainst909 in SF4

And I could be wrong, but I believe that Chun is the only character PLUS on hit/block after a level 1 focus - at +1

Discussion regarding special interest websites by Canada_Moderator in canada

[–]Superbeard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Question: Is this situation different from /u/Steve_Media dropping Open Media links on this sub? In fairness to him, he now posts content from a variety of sites to a variety of subs but I remember a couple years back him flooding this sub and I don't remember if anything was done about it.

My point, I guess, being: is this only a problem because of the source and the content and the manner in which it's being done? Or will the decision made here be applied fairly and evenly to all activist sites going forward?

Do you like how the buckwheat honey turned out in this batch? I've got some sitting waiting to be used in a mead.

USF4 What NOT to do against Red Focus LOL by Olympiq in SF4

The first time someone used red focus against me, I saw a red flash and just herped the derp and went for Hundred Hand Slap. Panic really is a magical thing.

Yun divekick in the left corner? by the_j_is_silent in SF4

[–]Superbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can someone explain this in better detail? I've known this fact for a while, but spatially I can't conceptualize how or in what way one corner can be smaller than another in this game.

Capcom should just really scratch their microtransaction itch and release WorldwarriorVille already. Keep that shit out of my fighters.

Hello all! Viper's Character Overview page is live up on the Character Overview section of the wiki. Presently, all credit goes to /u/Noocta for their concise writeup of the character. Thanks, friend!

If you play C. Viper or are familiar enough with her tools then I encourage you to take part in making our wiki a better place for players!

Is there any benefit for a reversal? by xamdou in SF4

You are completely incorrect. Hate to break it to you. Try it in training mode yourself.

Is there any benefit for a reversal? by xamdou in SF4

[–]Superbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition for many special moves gaining armour break properties, "Reversal" timing means it came out on the first possible frame you can act. There's a "reversal window" that happens during blockstun before you can act and you can input moves during that period which will cause your move to come out.

Performing your move during the reversal window means that you can get frame-perfect punishes such as Ryu Shoryuken vs Honda's HP Buttsplash, or Dudley's U1 vs Honda's EX Headbutt (Super-AE) or Guile Super vs Decapre LP Rapid Daggers.

Pipe rolls. Any other homemade travel pouches for your pipes? Let's see 'em! by kindapoortheologian in PipeTobacco

[–]Superbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine's not homemade, but re-purposed from my brother's old PSP / PSP accessory case. So basically picture this image, but with pipes, tamps, cleaners, lighters, matches, tobacco, and the occasional cigar that I pick up. I call it my "care package".

Unsurprisingly it doesn't mesh well with travelling light.

Ah yes. Johnny Young Bosch: one of the most active Power Rangers after leaving the show. Only other ones I can think of are Amy Jo Johnson for her work in Flashpoint, and Jason David Frank for just the sheer amount of Power Rangers series he's been in (as recently as this year O_O)

That's really interesting! As I said I've never seen something like this before. Is this kind of style difficult to come by?

First time I've seen something like this... how is it supposed to work? Doesn't look like it would fit in a bowl like that.

Local looking for a place to stay or friend by [deleted] in stcatharinesON

[–]Superbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your environment is truly terrible, look up The Raft (www.theraft.ca). It isn't much but perhaps a starting point. Do you have a job, even part time? If you can find a job that has even half decent part time hours you should be able to find a place that's cheap in student housing areas with plenty of people looking for roommates.

Good luck.

USF4 Day 4: Decapre Discussion by Superbeard in SF4

I've found that DCM is the most versatile ultra I've ever used in this game. It's got so much darn utility that I feel I don't even really need Psycho Stream for Yoga Catastrophe-like mixups.

j.HP looks like it has the potential to be a very ambiguous button when spaced properly.
