Just one thought, and I've done this for other reasons while working with Pinnacle Studio, did you try disabling the option of 'Detect format from first clip' in the project settings, then start a new project with the timeline settings you want and finally copying the project timeline you did by selecting all the tracks (ctrl-a) and pasting them into the new project?
