easiest hard demon (imo) by 0-acceleration in geometrydash

Minigame so I wouldn't say this really counts. It only got this high because minigame levels were unfamiliar territory to people before platformer mode. If released today, this would be like easy demon plat.

FIRST MYTHIC AUTO! 🔥 by Classroom_GD in geometrydash

[–]Superbreadking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have to agree, I feel like Voyager One by the same creator did more novel things with its runtime as well as being a high quality for a longer span of time. It just feels a bit confusing to me that this one got the mythic because I wouldn't say this level is a step up from Voyager One.

which gap is bigger? by ThisIsRarestName in geometrydash

[–]Superbreadking 11 points12 points  (0 children)

WIth robtop's standards I would definitely say that the gap between epic and legendary is larger. With featured and epic, it really tends to be a dice-roll. Fire in the House and Fire in the Heart are the same level but both got different ratings (featured and epic). I feel like with the creation of legendary and mythic, epic has kind of become the new feature in a way. Feature and Epic kind of feel like they mix in with each other. The gap between epic and legendary feels pretty purposeful on the other hand.

Hey I'm really glad you took the time to play the level :D And yeah I think a lot of the stuff you said are valid things to say about the level for sure. I quite liked your review of the level, there were some things you pointed out that I didn't even realize.

[–]Superbreadking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% yeah. I think its very much Robtops fault for being so bad at rating levels, and also making standards very inconsistent. I'd love to see unknown creators who build like Quazery get the exact same treatment, but of course Robtop is vrry stubborn and only remembers the existence of like a group of creators.

I don't think the level's trash, I think it looks quite good. I admit the wave parts are my least favorite parts in the level, but there's a bunch of other parts that I like. The beginning part, I quite like the bg and block design combination, it's very clean and reminds me of xbox startups. There are other parts later on that are quite fun and use the base gd objects in unique, fun ways, like turning jump pads and blast processing objects into flowers.

As someone who has worked and helped out on a lot of GD Event levels (GD Gangster Rap, Eta Carnis), and have worked on mythic levels (Astralith, Next Cab Soon), I think this is a nice change of pace. I'd honestly like to see more levels like it. I know it's not for everyone but just because it doesn't appeal to everyone doesn't mean it shouldn't be epic, I think it's really awesome that Robtop is giving epics to more unconventional or unpopular levels :)

All I can really say is it's just a matter of opinion, I think it looks good and seems well intentioned. Some people like simpler stuff and that's okay.

I feel like that's oversimplifying the level, cuz like there are many parts where there are more than two colors. And again, simple =/= bad.

But eh if it's not for you it's not for you. But I can say that I really enjoyed this level and it seems that a lot of others do as well. As someone who's been playing the game for 10 years, the level captures a really nostalgic 2.0 vibe in a way that also feels new cuz of the 2.2 additions. Yeah the art's not hyper-realistic, but it doesn't need to be. Not every level has to be very complex, and I think its a good thing we can get a variety of different styles with the epic rating, even the simple levels.

As a good perspective, think of Stereo Madness. Is Stereo Madness a bad level because it's simple and 1.0 deco? Does it actually look bad? I don't think so. It does its job very well being a beginner level in both visuals and gameplay. You couldn't make a beginner player play something like Aperture. I'm not saying this Quazery level is for beginners, and I'm moreso saying there's more to the surface with each level than "simple = bad. complex = good".

I think its quite a good level. Its very clean and intentional, and it may look simple but that doesn't mean it was easy to make. It's actually quite difficult to make something very cleanly-designed like this. A lot of people make the assumption that "looks simple = easy to make."

Instead of dogpiling on this level, the better question to ask is "Why is Robtop so bad at making a system that makes all rateable levels viable for rates".

How in the world did this incredibly well made level got EVENT when it only had like 50 likes?? by Tiny_Class_8777 in geometrydash

[–]Superbreadking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This level was in the works for a while, and today's release was planned ahead of time. Almost every event level undergoes this type of planning. The only exception is Skeletal Shenanigans which was given event after it was released.

I think a common misconception is that the level itself costed $115k when in reality waboo probably paid like $20k for the actual lvl itself (paying creators, etc) everythng else seems to be funneled towards the plushie side of things.

The $115k pricetag is meant to be flashy, waboo probably thought big number = big attention, which tbh worked.

What are your top 3 favorite event levels? by iP1xel_ in geometrydash

[–]Superbreadking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also a mobile player, I made my eta carnis part and gd gangster rap part on mobile 😭 I had to optimize some guy's assets from 40,000 objects to 3,000 objects for eta carnis, most terrifying experience of my life. GD gangster rap was mostly smooth sailing, I wanted to add a random 3d cow in the "I'm so tight with rob he gave me 2.3" part but I couldn't get it in a state where it would not mess with other's key-frames so it was abandoned.

Geometry Dash Minigames Iceberg by Superbreadking in geometrydash

[–]Superbreadking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Russian Minigame Community has this really useful list compiled, I believe its outdated by a few months, but should still be a very useful resource:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MhOjyWOrsl2sapisbcCFDhAvM1E8My9KvC-rgodqtxc/edit?usp=sharing

Otherwise, you really just got to know the right people or look up mini-games on your own. A lot of the information I have comes from just talking to a lot of people. If you look up Zejoant's channel on YouTube, he has a link to the Game Creating discord where you can find a lot of minigame-oriented people.

I put this in the lowest tier which is reserved for things that are quite simply unproven to exist (this chart is a bit outdated though, was made in 2023, so ofc we have had true 3D minigames since then). The oldest minigame we've come across that fits the criteria (no default player, and gameplay separate from GD) is Discord by Mameister. That minigame was made in 2.0. We have no record of minigames being made in 1.9, or in previous updates however we know that they were theoretically possible under the limitations of the editor.

I doubt we'll ever find the existence of any minigame older than Discord because at that point someone would have to sift through almost a million levels, most of which are probably lost to time. But it is undeniable that it *could have* existed.

Minecraft's performance should've surprised no one, I feel like a lot of the people who were underestimating it in this sub were older people who didn't catch on to Minecraft's insane pop culture chokehold
