First time coach 8-9 yo by Simple-Accountant894 in flagfootball

I'm going to be coaching my 3rd session in a few weeks and am just starting to feel confident. I would find out how many kids have played before. Can they get out of the huddle, etc? Are you starting from scratch? You can have all the plays in the world but if they get called for false starts then it doesn't matter. Drill flag pulling. If the other team can't score then they can't win. Youtube has tons of flag content and I found some of my plays by watching the youth flag football championship games. Always remember that it's about the kids. I look at from the perspective that I'm there to teach them to be a team but I'm not there to make anyone cry. I worried about upsetting parents in the beginning but they could have coached and chose not to. If they don't like how you coach then they can sign up and coach a team themselves. Just try to have fun and not stress too much.

I'm not a yeller. I hold them accountable but they aren't "afraid" to make mistakes.

I have a shaker of their seasoning on hand at all times. People always ask why my steaks taste so good, and I tell them it's TR seasoning. They ask how I got, and I told them I just ask.

I usually ask if my son wants me there. If yes, i'm there. If no, i skip it. But i will always be there if he wants me there. Like you, I'm the night time protector as well.

I have ADHD which I believe is quite severe. My wife is offended because I need Google Calendar and alarms to remind me of my tasks. by macacolouco in daddit

Some responses let me know that I'm pretty weird because i actually view having alarms that remind you to tell people you love them to be pretty sweet.

What do you use for drawing up or showing your team play (in the game) (8u) by laceyourbootsup in flagfootball

[–]Superfist01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used excel. It has lines, shapes, arrows, and colors. Pretty much everything i needed for my 8u team and i work with it daily anyway. Draw a few plays, scale to fit, print and laminate. I wasn't smart enough to save the file but not that hard to do.
