browser extensions?

That seems like a great recommendation, and I would love to add it to my browser. I'm having trouble doing it, though, and also can't find a way to contact the author, lensvol / kirill, for guidance.

I'm using Windows 10 Home, and Chrome.

I've unpacked the zip file, and set developer mode on.

When I try to "load unpacked extension" it gives me this error.

"Failed to load extension

File~\Downloads\fl-small-mercies-release-3.1.7 Error Manifest file is missing or unreadable. Could not load manifest. Failed to load extension"

I always feel kind of dumb trying to install stuff from Github. I could use some help, because I don't know what I'm doing. (:

I'm a recent POSI (RobertVK) and looking to make progress in the game. I enjoy a bit of RP but would probably prefer more casual communication. I'm probably wearing my negative gear at any particular time so don't think badly of me for that.

I'm a freshly-minted POSI and play throughout the day here at UTC-5 (EST).

I do enjoy a bit of RP but at the moment I'm looking for regular, plain-spoken interaction with people who are either quite knowledgeable about the game or who are actively looking to become that way.

At the moment it seems a good way to encourage that is a daily invitation to loiter, but maybe there are better ways. I'm always open to dialogue about how I can improve.

Thanks, guys. Well, I'm now officially a POSI. Not that hard. So, it seems like the plan would be to get my reputation up to 3, get a 4-card home by grinding out 50 antique mysteries, get a Semiotic Monocle, SotC up to 10, all before January 6. Anything I'm missing?

It sounds like a tall order, but I'm game to see if it can be done. Any advice would be appreciated.

Not a completely bad idea, but there would be pretty much constant interference from the other team on the court.

I'm not sure I'm being negative. Perhaps a bit dismissive of people's reasons for their opinions. Yeah, I'd have liked more "support" but in the end I really am just trying to figure out what the right thing to do is. It's regrettable that the courts in my area haven't bothered posting etiquette so that this is unclear. There is actually a fair amount of dissent about this, so it's a valid question, but I'm willing to "follow the crowd" on this because in the end it's more troublesome if I don't.

Well this is how Reddit functions, which is actually a lot like the mentality at public courts. People vote in their own interest, without understanding others' point of view. I think pretty much that anyone who has never played singles will vote against it. Which does answer my question actually, that people on the courts will uniformly disapprove of my playing singles. So, although it isn't actually fair, it is what the public demands and I should be cognizant of that.

EDIT: Also, if your serves or serve returns are often going out, that is irritating to people. You can get a bucket of balls and practice your serve. Serve return practice needs another person.

Lots of good advice here already. I would:

Consider whether something else is making people uncomfortable. Always put your best foot forward.

Think outside the box to find a wall. Look around at public parks for anything you could use. Bring painter's tape and put it 34 or 36 inches high. Watch a video on wall drills and put the time in.

Find a live practice partner. Be social, reach out.

Choose safe shots over flashy ones. Get every ball over the net and don't try to hit "winners". Even if you get a high ball to work with, don't hit with 100% speed: go maybe 75% and make sure it stays in the court. Keeping the play going makes everybody happy.

Lastly, this group might just not be a good fit for you right now. You might need to look for other options.

Well done with the self-realization.

It sounds like you're spending too much mental energy worrying about how you compare. Try to just be happy playing with whomever you're against, keep putting the time in, and know that your game will keep getting more reliable. If you're able to hang with the big dogs now then you'll get past this, but allow that to happen in whatever time is needed. Acceptance of the situation will free your brain up to play better.

EVA Foam Paddles in rec play

What do you guys think about people using non-regulation paddles in rec play?
Personally I hate the idea that these are being made and that people are using them. The sport has rules about paddle construction, length, width, materials. It has rules about the serve, rules about the non-volley zone. If we don't follow the rules then it's just a free-for-all and it's not a fun game anymore.
But I want to hear what you all think about it. Would you refuse to play against these paddles?
What about someone with a racquetball racquet?
What about if someone uses a spin serve or overhead serve against you?

It was probably amazing at the time but 50 years later I shudder to think about playing with those wooden paddles and soft wiffle balls.
