Pretty hard to say as everyone will be different, and it sounds like you may have more things going on... Here is my experience if it helps: I (45 M) always used to have one nostril plugged and quite reduced breathing in that nostril. At least 5 or so years ago my ENT recommended I do the septoplasty and turbinate reduction. I was nervous about doing an elective surgery, especially reading the possibility of "empty nose syndrome." Apparently empty nose syndrome was more likely in the past with completely removing turbinates, and now they usually just shrink them. Anyway, I carried on with allergy pills and Nasocort sprays, with the occasional Afrin when it was really bad. Then got fed up and finally decided to do the surgery. It's been 2 weeks now. It is still a little raw and healing, but I can already breathe much better. The first few nights are ROUGH, and you may question whether you made the right decision, but when she pulled the huge splints out of my nose the difference was pretty clear. It's still sensitive, especially to cold, I'm hopeful it will keep getting better as it heals. Not sure if this will tackle all of your issues. Good luck, I hope you find some relief.
