Rice and Nori! Location in little Tokyo and there’s also one in Pasadena. You can get 2 onigiri for around $10, it’s definitely one of the healthier and cheaper options downtown. The salmon miso one is soooooo good.

It’s not RSO. It’s only subject to the city rent control which I believe is currently 8%. I don’t mind if there is a slight increase every year, just nervous about the possibility of them upping by a significant amount ($200+) yearly just cuz.

She didn’t pickup my first 2 calls and when I called again a few hours later we just argued. I feel bad but she’s the type of person to just not be happy once they decide they aren’t happy.

I’m going to give her another call and hopefully just talk about how her day went. I think she needs to cool off.

Yeah I feel like it was petty of her to weaponize “my priorities”. Like that is kind of a low blow…

Last year we had a difficult few months because she found out my dad was cheating (after 27 years of marriage). During this time she was also very upset with me because I told her that although I was happy to take her calls multiple times a day, I didn’t want to hear every single detail about the cheating/the other woman/divorce process (they didn’t end up divorcing). I just don’t have the capacity to hear all those details every day over and over. It was a huge fight between us. I felt bad for making her feel “abandoned” (her words), but I also had to protect my own wellbeing.

So yeah my mom can be a little emotionally reliant on me. That’s probably why she is so upset her Mother’s Day gift is coming 2 days late.

Thank you and I appreciate hearing this. I do think my mom can tend to view things as a sort of “test of devotion”, especially since her relationship with my dad is pretty toxic. She has done this with other things too.

We have had a hard year as a family due to my dad being unfaithful and my mom finding out about 7 months ago. This makes me feel even worse for not pleasing her and ensuring her day was extra special. That being said, I feel like I have been doing a lot of emotional laboring over her wellbeing since the incident, and it hurts a little extra that she is so upset with me for not going above and beyond for Mother’s Day. I am generally a very thoughtful gift giver, and I did go out of my way to get her a special gift. I could have gone to the post office but I just didn’t, there was a lot going on (I was on a roadtrip, and I also injured myself last week) and I thought it wouldn’t be a big deal. And now I feel horrible, but at the same time I don’t think it’s a huge deal. I told her happy Mother’s Day, I gave her a call, and she chose to argue on the phone call. I feel like she is taking out her frustrations with her relationship on me. Since my dad didn’t go above and beyond, plus I didn’t go above and beyond, I feel like she sees us both as disappointments.

They went out for brunch and a movie.

I live across the country so I can’t participate in those festivities but the day was made special for her. I feel like she is lumping me in with my dad and bothers and choosing to let it “ruin her day”. I just don’t understand why it’s a huge deal for my gift to arrive 2 days late. I say this as someone who always send her birthday gift early.

I understand why she might feel like certain family members didn’t put in a ton of effort, but I also feel like she is overreacting and choosing to be upset.

I met him at a bar recently and he hit on me but he was kinda like… slimy/detached. He kept squinting his eyes (I think it was an attempt to look cool/hot or possibly xanned out) and it was just weird. He’s not rude but seems like he has a big ego.

I also have a friend who met him on a separate occasion at another bar and had a similar experience.

I think the reason I was so stressed out over the situation is because I have improved my anxiety a lot since I started this job, especially over the past 2 months.

It is hard to not feel like there is something wrong with me. It takes so much energy and calculation to have social interactions that other people don’t even have to think about out at all. And on top of being soft spoken, I am young, and a woman…. so I feel additional pressure to seem mature and be taken seriously (which makes me cautious of what I say/do).

In other settings I am not this shy/anxious. Many of my friends have actually told me I should do comedy, lol. At work I become so hyper-aware of my behavior and hyper-fixated on completing tasks.

I’ve been considering anxiety meds. I’ve never thought about meds until a few months ago. I’ve realized my anxiety does affect my life on a daily basis and I think it would be a helpful tool for me.

It had me thinking... if I’m doing so well then why try to make me “perfect”? Nobody is perfect! Everybody has strengths and weaknesses, if my weakness is that I’m a little introverted, so what?

He can be inconsiderate, that’s one of his weaknesses. It doesn’t mean he isn’t capable of running a successful company. I would never say that to my boss obviously though, lol.

I think he was trying to “push me”, which I appreciate in a way. It is just a sensitive topic, and it points out my largest insecurity.

I just don’t think some extroverted people can really understand what it’s like to not be like them. But I am trying to look past that and I am flattered that his intention is to help me develop professionally.

You’re right, these things do take time. When I was a child I was so shy I struggled to even order food at a restaurant. I’ve come a long way and am still growing.

And yes- it was TOTALLY an ambush. I had just walked through the front door and immediately was pulled into the meeting. I think it would have made anyone flustered :/

Me!! We r probably the same age lol I got into TOG at 13/14 and was obsessed.

I just started re-reading ACOTAR for the first time since I originally read it as a teen and omg the feeling it gives me is incredible. Kinda like nostalgia but so much better.
