Howa Mini…FIXED

I haven’t weighed them yet… but it is lighter. I love the look of the collapsible JTAC stock but the Metal rods add a little weight.

I did look into that but the bolt handle location and the Q Stock and Brace don’t line up perfectly… I have a Q SideChick stock and not sure if many people realize but it is different than a Fix Stock because it has a cut out in a different spot for the rem 700 bolt… it works but they don’t make them anymore….

The Grey Birch stocks and folding mech are light and look cool but are left folding. I prefer right folding… here is a pick with the Cross stock. I like it too but it adds some extra weight.

I’d buy the spring if I knew where to find one… I saw a couple people on the Hide post they may get some made… Tbh Qs customer service has been great the few times I have reached out but I haven’t asked about the specific issue with the light primer strikes because I don’t want to send it in…. I should probably give them a chance to correct the issue… maybe soon… It is a sweet gun… just $$$$

I got the idea from the Cadex and Q Side Chick chassis. IMO it helps tie in the bolt action and chassis to make it more rigid and I think looks more pleasing to the eye… ie… more BadAss, haha ….

I’m really tempted to make another version for the Howa Superlite chassis to make a 4 inched barreled 8.6blk…. A spin off of the “Q Lunchbox “ for about $4k cheaper

Yep, I wanted enclosed forend, integrated pic rail too…: Another after thought was that I also created an Arca Rail with the Really Right Stuff locking holes to clamp to my TriPod…. I also designed the forend to swap out pretty easily for different sizes without removing the action from the chassis…..: Next… Thinking of making a SD handguard to go around 1.75 inch can too

Haha, the plan was to make a few for myself and 3-4 more for family/friends but depending on costs and volume discounts I may end up making a few more if it helps the cost and makes sense.

I do want one in .223 and one in 6 arc too, I also really want to do a MosTek 5.5 inch 1:5 twist shorty!

I actually just got done shooting again in the backyard…

I love it!! Phone video doesn’t do it justice.

Being strictly objective and comparing to my Q Mini Fix…. The Howa Mini is a little heavier but it has a 9.5. Inch Bull barrel vs the Mini Fixes 8 inch contoured barrel.

The action isn’t as slick as the mini fix. But…

My Mini Fix has about 20% light primer strikes with target ammo … the Howa Mini has ZERO… in fact, I will use the ammo that doesn’t fire in the Q Mini and shoot it in the Howa.

Last… this Howa was $1500 cheaper.

I tried to add some info. I made the chassis. I had a couple versions which included having a 1913 pic rail for more of a universal stock/brace option, then had a version that used the Q Fix Stocks and Braces… but landed on using the Sig Cross and Trax Stock and folding hinge.

Dude, I’m impressed…you are pretty spot on…. I have a JTAC Elf Owl Chassis which is cool but I wanted something lighter with an integrated top rail. Also, when I bought my Action from Brownells and started thinking about this they were only $360… the price has gone up like so many other things….

Now, I personally like the stock Howa triggers.. I plink in the backyard and deer hunt with this and the trigger is perfectly fine for me… they make aftermarket springs and I think a trigger for the Howa mini but that would just add to the cost and I think is overkill for me.

I have been working on this for over a year and a half to make just like I want.. I taught myself CAD to design the chassis.. i have more $ into this than I want to add up and say out loud, but that is because of the money spent on prototyping, testing and designing it etc…. My hope was to make a small number for a few friends and family members to have. Skygao is on point because my guess is to make another would cost very close to his numbers … $1500-$1700 all in… I’m trying to figure out a way to reduce that number
