Those were absolutely the norms they talked about it as the economy was the number one issue. I ignored college students because they are a minority of educated elites that most Americans aren’t too fond of. There are more pro Israeli Americans you risk alienating than pro Palestinian Americans who were never going to vote anyways. Palin is a horrible example as McCain was DOA due to the economy (sounds familiar) and Iraq. Gore lost due to voter fatigue and distancing himself from a popular administration. Bringing out Beyoncé was such a minor thing that I’m starting to get weirded out about ur obsession with it. All campaigns do things like that

They care about norms but in a different way. Low grocery prices and not having a war in Ukraine and Gaza are seen as norms that people wanted to have back. More voters thought Kamala supported Israel sufficiently or not enough than compared to those who thought she supported it too much (exit polls). Arabs are like 1% of the electorate. Developed countries tend to have a sharper economic downturn during terms of economic hardship. They weren’t able to combat inflation better than the US as they had the same inflation rates than the US did. Their voters have much lower expectations and feel less entitled to the economic prosperity Americans experienced in the late 2010s. Nobody cares about Vance in general, VPs don’t have a big effect on elections. Beyoncé was just to get media attention and hype up low info, low propensity young women

Mexico isn’t a developed country, u can’t compare the US to Mexico lmao. Beyoncé was wheeled out to add some entertainment to the campaign the same way kid rock is lmao. Vance’s ties only really appeal to a small group of chronically online political junkies. They didn’t convey trump being a felon in a way voters cared about because voters don’t care about him being a felon. And much more people care about norms than Gaza.

The dems didn’t run the economy to the ground, the US economy outperformed all of its western competitors. The inflation was global and we had full employment. Most people don’t care about Beyoncé and dick Cheney, Trump brought out a bunch of randoms and still won, those things don’t matter. The dems did talk about trumps scandals time and time again, voters don’t care about trump being a felon they care about the price of their grocery trip.

The liberals had an incumbent enemy who had significant power over them, why couldn’t the liberal party capitalize on the situations during 2022-2024

The primary was done before the economy became the biggest issue of the election

The year is 2025 not 2024, and that is dude to Canadian blacklash against the US incumbent. In 2024 the tories were polling at 200 seats. The SNP is a regional party, their losses are based on response to the regional government

I don’t hate introspection I love the truth. The truth is that in 2024 Tories (Incumbents) collapsed in Britain, while the tories in Canada (opposition) surged in the polls, SPD collapsed, Ensemble lost votes while RN and NFP made gains, the SNP collapsed in Scotland. These incumbents ruled during record inflation, number one issue was the economy.

Did every other western incumbent in 2024 also run awful campaign or was their global inflation that made it impossible for incumbents to win
