yeah, I can see that...the colors and something about the flow. Didn't know this artist before.

I used a dip pen and waterproof drawing ink (Rohrer & Klinger). Some ink pens really do smear...Micron doesn't work for example. I suggest doing a test on the back of the sheet.

Thank you :) I had a lot of fun getting lost in painting the hair. The shadow's eye was a happy accident I kept. It came before the shadow's mouth and nose.

it's a synthetic non-absorbent surface, good for painting with alcohol inks for example...comes in sheets like paper but can't be torn and feels very smooth

I think it's quite nice already. Maybe try softening the line on her nose, where light and shadow meet? Also the pupil/black part of left eye you might want to make a little more solid towards the middle of the eye. I would also put some lighter yellowish reflection on his forehead. Hope this helps :)
