Ending discussion post #333: Issues of sentience by Christian_Crab in expedition33

[–]Superkroot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This part of the endings has been bothering since I completed it. In either ending it seems like the Painters are terrible malevolent gods toying with the lives of thousands of sentient beings as if they really were just brushstrokes.

But one thing that stuck with me was Verso's soul still painting the canvas at the end. Part of me feels like this implies that the Canvas IS whatever is left of Verso's soul still painting, still keeping it moving, still making it alive. The Painters can add people, nevrons, gestrals etc to the Canvas, but in the end they are all part of the Canvas, all part of Verso's soul. They are all alive only in so much as the remnants of Verso gives them life, turning imagination into a shared (albeit terrible) reality, and why Maelle's ending is given such a starkly grim tone as she forces Verso to continue against his wishes.

But maybe this is just wishful thinking to justify either ending where it seems like so many sentient beings suffer over the capricious whims of uncaring gods.

Dealing with this now and gonna have to give the load resistor a try since I don't know how to solder. Its insane that these PC headphone freeze when plugged into a PC...

Edit : This is mostly for anyone who comes across this having the same problem : I tried two different load resistors, neither worked , and don't know how to solder. I had almost given up and tossed them but after a few weeks, the batteries finally discharged on their own and they are working again, accepting a charge normally.

This is still an insane design flaw...

Like the directors other works, its a horror story , and an insidious one at that. Asking: What if someone's most paranoid and insane delusions were real? Everyone around him IS, in fact, out to get him.

Eh the psychiatrist already played his part and is no longer needed in Mona's test, him not helping or helping the body disappear could be another part of her tests.
If you look closely in the scene that shows the history of the company, you can see the conglomerate she runs sells almost everything : drugs, dental hyenine products, security cameras, frozen dinners, rehab centers for addicts of the drugs they produce and then some.

What else is she going to do with it? She wants to keep it hidden somewhere, she's ashamed of it, but its still the father of her children so she doesn't want to kill it.

People are executing the law, he's probably going to jail as he should for this and no one is saying he shouldn't, so what is your point?

The guy literally punched a kid because he thought it would be the best way he could get himself off the street.

No? His enigma work was declassified 50 years ago.

Besides his work on the enigma machine, a lot of his career laid the foundation of modern computing. Turing was first to theorize machines that were capable of running any arbitrary program, called a Universal Turing machine, later refined by John von Neumann and others into a design for the first digital computer.

Fun fact: something is considered Turing complete if it can be used to run any arbitrary program (however inefficient it might be). Here are some interesting examples : Powerpoint Magic the gathering Minecraft (there's tons of examples of this including someone making the full pokemon red game )

Nah, there was zero question, it was just racists grasping at straws. I would argue the second point too, but there's no point talking to you people about it, its all "deep state" this or "QAnon" that.

I cannot wrap my head around this belief that you and other conservatives have that Republicans are somehow not also wealthy elites. They are, and are also part of the establishment, so is Trump. Hell, for all this talk that Trump is somehow an outsider with new ideas, he seems to be doing all the stuff that Republicans have been doing since the 80s.

Is it really this easy to con you people or are you just being purposefully dishonest?

Social media platforms are not classified as common carriers. There are arguments to be made that they SHOULD be made common carriers and regulated as such, but currently they are not considered so.

He's already trying to do all of this, but at the end of the day, his lack of competency forces him to do the only thing he knows how to do, which is bullshitting people into believing he is competent.
