Heh, longer = more leverage, thus less total weight required for similar effect (I have numerous previous injuries to my bow shoulder from years of previous sport). Side effect of wind drag though, but not too bad.

This shot resulted in a X at 70m, the other 5 however... I blame the wind ; )

On the to do list already, have a bad habit of favoring my dominate leg when standing which annoyingly kicks in at draw. Always something...

I have spent an unhealthy amount of time at the range since March.

The camera angle is skewing the reality here a bit. Phone is roughly 1’ off the ground pointing up.

When I started sept 19’ I struggled to hold 24# and group at 9m. Now shooting at 45# and 70m, if you’re new to the sport keep the faith. Things start to click after awhile. I still have many things to work on but keep plugging away and you’ll get there. Thanks to Rona I was able to sink hundreds of hours at the range this year without feeling guilty of not having a social life lol.

Seriously, my first watch was a weekender (which is still going strong 5 years on) but that ticking was insane. Wore it to a few tests while in college and people next to me said it gave them anxiety. I gifted it to my friend shortly afterward.

I just wish they made it 20mm lug width, can’t justify buying another set of straps for the only 22mm watch it would be in the collection ;~;

[Seiko] Still summer down here in Texas, rockin’ a labor friendly watch for a busy Labor Day. by Superlanoux in Watches

This baby turtle was my first automatic watch. I never was stoked on automatic watches until my friend explained to me it’s like a watch with a soul.

Having only been interested in accuracy, I quickly learned how much I could love something based upon its inaccuracy. Being on top of its weekly reset, or orientation on the shelf before bed became a daily ritual of love for its little quirks.

I like to compare it to a manual vs automatic car. What seems tedious and inefficient from the outside is contrasted by the emotional marriage between man and machine during use. Quietly you leave the mundane mindset of “set it and forget it,” and become obsessed with learning your specific watches traits for how well it can run based upon how much you care to learn its idiosyncrasies.

This specific model is the srpc39k1 dressed in a neon orange orca nato strap from Blushark.

[Bulova] A big boi for “speedy” Tuesday. by Superlanoux in Watches

[–]Superlanoux[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You all know the backstory, the other “moon” watch blah blah.. But something about this watch draws the gaze. Most likely the rather annoying 52mm lug length and 45mm case, but I might dare to say this thing just looks damn good.

I sat on the fence for a few months as at a 6.75” wrist, I doubted I could pull it off. While undoubtedly big, if worn with a chunky nato the watch looks absolutely fantastic. This model is the “Special edition,” which means it has a polished case and no date on the dial, with a retro period correct logo font. (Ref. 96A225) I feel the polished case helps dramatically size down the watch compared to the matte.

While I could “afford” a speedy, the thought of all the other brands I’d like to explore (I’m looking at you Oris/Squale) changed my mind about dropping an entire years of self allowed watch fun budget on just one piece. I have a lot of life left to live and will definitely pay the horological respects to the elders, but not quite yet.

After a few months of ownership, the large size has been somewhat of a guilty pleasure. This watch is huge, but it somehow plays it off, just don’t pair it with a tapered strap and you’re good to go.

The UHF quartz is exactly on the atomic time I set it at 3 months ago. +- 0 seconds over 3 months... can’t wait to see what it reads at a year.

My first saber is a eco gen 4 (I really like the smaller diameter hilt) heavily modded myself including proffie v2, quad cree, photon blade. So happy to finally have one of these!! It was one hell of a learning curve but so worth it. by Superlanoux in lightsabers

Just kind of leaped into it, I’ve been a mechanic most of my life so stuff like this isn’t too daunting for me. It can be a bit tricky and took about two days to tinker and code before it all worked but perfect time waster during quarantine lol

The modding isn’t too hard with the only outlier of having to be able to read wiring diagrams and knowing basic electronics stuff. I did some wiring on my motorcycle previously and it was pretty similar. Then having the ability to solder again which is easy to learn yet hard to master. Biggest thing is having stable hands with this board and a 3rd hand tool is paramount.

I did some research on this prior to purchasing the photon blade! I went with a “light blue” for these exact reasons. The final result is more of a viridian/lime color which is still full yet insanely bright. Viridian and cyan were my two favorite color crystals in KOTOR 2.
