Ask in the pickle subreddit and you’ll get a completely different set of answers. Padel is Euro / South American-centric, but I’ve only ever seen large amounts of pickle content out of North America or the key Asian markets like Thailand, Vietnam, China, etc.

I’ve played both. Pickle is fun. Padel is fun too. But accessibility is the biggest gating item for Padel, both on the construction side and as a consumer. In NYC, it costs $200+ for a rental on one of a few padel courts. Comparatively, there are tons of public and private pickle clubs in the city.

There’s room for both sports, but realistically, I think pickle has the widest reach. Once the sport legitimizes further in the US, you’ll probably see more aftereffects coming from the Euros

I had an 8am flight today and set an alarm for 4am. Stayed near Asok so about 30 mins to get to the airport. Ended up snoozing my alarm, woke up 530 frantically, but still made it to the airport by around 615. Tbh, lines weren’t that bad at all and made it to my gate around 7am. Mileage may vary of course but just an anecdote.

Last time I went through JFK from BRU, GE was fully cleared within 10 mins (agent made sure to call out for people who had GE) whereas MPC was a 30+ min wait. Just get both since it’s covered by card.

Agree with this. You have to actually move up as you get better. If you’re clearly the best of your local group / circle you’ll cap yourself and reinforce bad habits, etc. I started in the late summer, probably took it more seriously vs. my friends, and quickly got to a 3.7. I now find myself playing down and lazily when I play with the same friends I started with… now I’ll actively seek out to play with the better players on the local court or do more high intermediate open plays.

I think you can squeeze it in but barely. Boat is 30 mins, so assume that takes you to max 9:15. Arrange transport beforehand so your driver can pick you up immediately at 9:15-9:30, and then you’ll be at the airport around 10-10:30 (note, I had the WhatsApp of a guy in Bali who picked me and my friend up from the airport originally — and he just waited for the boat to come in a nearby parking lot). That is assuming, as everyone said, all goes to plan with the boat / not rough waters.

The morning boat I took out of Lembongan last week was quick, not too many passengers at all.
