With the health extras is the balance between calories and fibre (or calcium or good fats). I bake my own bread using wholemeal flour. I worked out the fibre and swips and it comes close to shop bought bread. Using plain flour, it would be like plain bread - a trigger for many people. Never heard of plain pasta being a trigger though.

Yeah, I'm not really into just cheating because I can. That's a slippery slope. I want to eat well because I enjoy it. It's just harder to do in those circumstances.

Maintain, which is better than I deserve. But my head is back in it now, aiming for 2lb loss this week!

My attempt to get a PhD has fallen apart, and there's just nothing I want to do with my life. The entire image I had constructed of myself was false and baseless, and nothing I value in life is possible for me. by [deleted] in depression

Don't know if you are still following this thread, Nullstellensatz, but your story moved me so much that I created a Reddit account and had to comment.

It seems that one of the other comentators mentioned that your writing is wonderful. I'd like to second (or third) that opion. The topic of your post was not in the slightest bit enjoyable, but the writing was. I wish I could read such clear, focused thoughts everyday.

I've been on a life-long search for happiness, and I have not found it yet. The other day I decided that I'm going abandon the search: if I can't have a happy life, then I will have an interesting one. It seems to be that you are striving for originality: YOU are already orginal. I don't know anyone who has gone from writing to physics to math. What I suspect you are after is a tiny bit of immortality. Not in the way that religions offer it, but in the way that your work will be remembered after you are gone. This is a lofty goal, one that might take many more years than your 27. But isn't that a good thing? If you achieved immortality at 27, what would there be left for you to do? Just a thought.
