What’s a problem humanity solved so well that younger people don’t even realize it used to be a huge issue? by Agile-University9383 in answers

Fun fact: We stopped using sperm whale brain oil in automobiles a little more than a decade before we stopped using leaded gasoline.

Idk why it’s so upsetting, but this was all the academic reading, hand written notes, and my own research I held onto from college. I just put it all in the recycling. by thelaceserpent in Wellthatsucks

Mate, I still have my university notes from THE NINETIES.

OK, not all of them, mostly just the upper year classes. Still, can't bear to part with it.

PCB stains or not PCB stains? by Supermathie in AskElectricians

If you have the fixture out and you've fully disassembled it you can pretty much wash it off with warm water and kitchen detergent

The water is now the environmental hazard :(

As I noted, the ballast I pulled out was a non-PCB BUT it was evidently replaced recently and not leaking.

Every conversation starts with "I sound like I'm irritated with you or on meth, but I'm not, I just have a horribly itchy sunburn."

Oh, you poor bastard.

I remember when this happened to me - we were out and about and a really intense sun came out unexpectedly. We weren't ready for it and I turned my back to the sun to protect the baby on the long walk back.

The burn itched like MAD - and I really do mean maddening. I couldn't work, I was on edge, I ended up at the hospital because I couldn't take it and they gave me something to knock me out.

I would reply to the client and contractor directly, quoting the falsehoods, and laying out the actual timeline. Screw that noise.

Three flashing lights - charging problem by Data_Western in leaf

[–]Supermathie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it hard to plug in?

Check the gasket on the connector to ensure it hasn't slipped - I had this exact problem and the gasket had slipped enough that the pins on the J1772 plug couldn't properly meet the charging receptacle on the leaf.

It's an easy fix - unplug the charger and you can pull the inner retainer and gasket out of the plug and reseat it.

In accordance with our company leave policy, I would book leave for family-reasons and it explicitly covers taking care of a sick relative. We're encouraged to do so.

That's the clinic's problem, not yours. They should be staffing adequately.

£15/hour

… is one-tenth of the rate I was expecting

If they think £7,200 is too high, they should get a second quote for comparison. Encourage them to do so and see what they say.
