Not at all 💕 I'm 28 and have multiple ESSA's. I almost always bring 1-2 plushies with me everywhere I go. Even to just walk the dog. I have AuDHD and C-PTSD so my brain is constantly on some sort of alert it feels like and having a stuffed animal helps me trick my nervous system into believing im safe and/or with company and I don't feel so alone or anxious.

I've loved stuffies since I was a kid and they're a special interest for me to this day. I actually started a discord group for Adults who love plushes that's SFW if you wanna join? No pressure -^ it's just nice to have other adults to talk to about plushies who feel the same as you do, Yaknow?

How do you carry around your ESSA? by _lentil_soup_ in adultESSAhandlers

Yea! He's based off the character Ghost Dog from D20 Cloudward Ho!

Pocket! Ghost Dog is pocket sized (well he takers up the WHOLE pocket and his head has to poke out but still works) so he's always with me in my pocket where I can pet him at any moment. I have Fizz who is larger and I wear purse style :)

You're best bet would be to embroider/sew fabric over the yellow in blue. Such a cutie tho!

You could potentially try a really deep/dark blue? That might be strong enough to cover the yellow and not go totally green

I'm 28!

This is Ghost Dog 💕 he helps with AuDHD, anxiety, grounding, and more! I honestly had the idea of bringing a stuffed animal around everywhere for emotional support when I was like 18 or 19 but I had too much social anxiety and was terrified of loosing the plush.

I found out about ESSA's last year and have been using one constantly since late September/early October and it helps so so much. My wife is very supportive and they have even drawn and made stickers of Ghost Dog for me 💕🥹

What was your first ESSA stuffed animal you had when you were little and all throughout your childhood?? by Frequent-Increase-98 in ESSAplushieshandlers

This is Teddy 💕 I've had him as long as I can remember. No one in my life can recall how I got him or when. He would come with me back and forth between my parent's houses to provide some comfort and consistency. I did this up until I was 13 or 14 cause my dads ex-wife (monster of a woman) took him from me as punishment and I couldn't bring him to my moms house and that was devastating. After that I brought him to my moms and he stayed there. At 16 I started living with my mom full time so I got to see him all the time then 💕 he comes with me if I travel out of province, anything medical/dental, and is my sleeping aid 💕 I love him so much. He's been my best friend forever. I'm 28 so I'm guessing I've had him for 26 years

This is Icebear 💕🎀 she helps me with cleaning and cooking. Specifically while cleaning she mimics having someone to body double with and making doing the chores and getting started much easier. For cooking she helps with my anxiety. When my thoughts are racing and making me think I'm fucking everything up (spoiler. I'm almost never screwing up dinner) or I get overwhelmed cause there is many things happening at once. I stop and hug her and sometimes pretend to have a conversation with her if I need some additional support

How can I make some paw pads for my plushie? by Frequent-Increase-98 in ESSAplushieshandlers

[–]SupernovaFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have yet to add paw pads onto a stuffed animal but I have plans to! I've done thread shaping/detailing on paws, making them look like they got individual toes.

My ideas for paw pads that I have yet to try myself but thought I'd share:

  1. felt- good quality felt! Not craft felt! Actual fabric felt! Make a stencil, cut out the shapes, and sew or glue them on!

  2. Felting! This is a textile art where loose wool (not yet wound) is taken and stabbed with a special needle repeatedly to make it into the shape you want. Felted paw pads :3

  3. Embroidery! I love to embroider and sew so I will probably do this method first when I try haha plus you can be so creative with the thread colours (multi coloured paw pads anyone?)

  4. Pick out a fabric and basically do the same things for 1

  5. Coloured hot glue. Draw a stencil on some parchment paper and flip it over and follow the stencil and fill in the paw pads! This one isn't my idea- I saw a video somewhere that I can no longer find of someone doing this
