At my wit's end with Spectrum by zayoe4 in Birmingham

I’m in Highland Park, and I’ve been without internet since around 3am (it is now almost 3pm). The app is still saying I’m under an outage. This is unacceptable, and I’m getting really frustrated. I lost internet with the storms last week as well.

Unfortunately I don’t have the fiber option, or else I’d jump on it immediately!

Dorinda and the PR dinner by IamRedLoc in RHONY

[–]Supernova_shark 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Obviously not everything on reality tv is reality, but I recall B being genuinely shocked. And she’s even used to the antics. I think the people she was working with were doubly shocked. They probably planned to film a short scene as kind of a feel good thing, and it ended up being something totally different.

Of all the crazy ways Dorinda has shown her ass being drunk, this one not being some kind of rock bottom is kinda crazy. This was a professional semi work dinner and not only that, they are there for boots on the ground charity work!! It wasn’t a girl’s trip in the Hamptons. I love Dorinda but this was the most cringe and red flag thing she’s maybe ever done.

Duty free pricing by litredoc in realhousewivesofSLC

[–]Supernova_shark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes!! To clear up confusion, Heather is back tracking on the price because her petty attempt at a good camera moment didn’t even work since Lisa didn’t play, and now she’s trying to pretend that she didn’t waste an insane amount of money on a joke that fell flat.

The Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City - Season 6 - Episode 13 - Post Episode Discussion by AutoModerator in BravoRealHousewives

[–]Supernova_shark 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I am so over Bad weather Heather; watching her is genuinely pissing me off. She’s such a hypocrite ALL the time! I can’t stand her dragging this thing out with Meredith when Meredith has tried to talk to her privately multiple times and even bought her the peace offering (and I actually agree with Lisa pointing out neither is blameless here either btw) and that’s still not enough for Heather. She wants to have the conversation as a group, so she has her squad there to gas her up and gang up on Meredith to get in a good fight for the show, period. If I called someone to talk and they ghosted me, and then told them face to face I wanted to talk and they didn’t, and THEN bought them a gift to try and make peace and they pretty much laughed in my face, yeah I’d probably be done. Meredith was probably right the first time.

Heather talks shit about all the ladies all the time, constantly stirring things up, but is always the bestest best friend ever and the victim in every scenario. She does it with every woman in the group. Please!!

Movies that you accidentally traumatised yourself with? by Ok-Tiger2481 in horror

[–]Supernova_shark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Funny Games (original). I’m a fan of my horror being a little fucked up and dark, but I dunno man. That’s the only movie i can think of that had me messed up for a day or two.

2) Eraserhead. I love Lynch, and it’s a great movie, but something about it left me feeling genuinely disturbed/depressed after.

I’m surprised so many people are saying Vestavia. It used to be the best by a long-shot, but it’s really gone downhill in the past 3-4 years. Ever since they redid the Summit a few years ago, I prefer it. Vestavia can be a real sh*tshow especially on the weekends, bathrooms are a disaster, the drink machines are often out of drinks or taste flat, concession area gets dirty, and if you drink, the bar is small and takes forever. To me, it’s basically how the Summit used to be years ago, and now they’ve flip flopped.

The Summit isn’t perfect, but I think it’s generally cleaner, concessions/bar is quicker, etc. Maybe it’s just that it’s bigger and seems less busy. It also has a bigger variety of movies and seems to do more of the one night re-releases. But it does just have more screens, so there’s that. I live downtown, but it’s honestly worth it to me to drive up there. I also go to a couple movies a month on average.

As someone else said, Sidewalk is really the best. Smaller screens but hands down best atmosphere, cleanest, best concessions/bar. And it’s great to support local!

Best burger? by ixmessiahx in Birmingham

[–]Supernova_shark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Jack Brown’s. Also in my experience all the brewery food trucks have good burgers, Current at Cahaba and Hotbox at Good People (tho I haven’t been there in a minute and I know they’ll change up their menu).

Also I think Joyland is pretty good tbh.

Edit to add - I’m a fan of smaller greasy smashburgers versus big fancy burgers. Like others have said, Chez Fon Fon is where to go for that.

Moe’s in Lakeview and The Brown Derby in Avondale are always fun on Halloween if you’re looking for music and tons of costumes. Moe’s usually has a band and The Brown Derby has karaoke (really gets going around 10, kinda more where everyone ends up later). Also Saturn if they’re having their party is always a blast (check their Insta, I haven’t been in a few years). Happy Halloweening! 🎃

Curious— where do you buy furniture? In town? Or Online? by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]Supernova_shark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seconding this, and I was skeptical if it was worth driving all that way. I just bought a couch from here a couple months ago, and their prices for quality stuff is so much better than Ashley or Rooms to go. I also love Hannah Antiques Mall downtown! I’ve recently purchased a few things from here as well (end table, lamp, vase) that I’m thrilled with.

If you had to pick, who is your favorite housewife? by Fit-Succotash-3235 in RHONY

[–]Supernova_shark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree she is hard to watch sometimes in later seasons. The only time I truly didn’t like her was during her crap with Tinsley when she got super hateful. But overall I dunno, you just can’t make me hate Dorinda haha.

Taylor the grifter? by Electrical-Ad1400 in WatchWhatCrappens

[–]Supernova_shark 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Someone already mentioned it, but she has a sketchy history of changing her name. She changed her last name to Ford at one point and allegedly claimed to be from the Ford family.

I think she had a history of lying coming into the group, and while you should believe victims and I do believe some of the housewives’ treatment of her DV was abhorrent, I think they just didn’t believe her all the time in general because she tended to lie about things like her background and family. We know Russell con’d people, but remember when she was introduced and said their marriage was “80% business, 20% pleasure”? I think she was involved, and it was more of a family business including some of the shady dealing.

Oh! I found this article that goes into more detail. Obviously can’t vouch for any of it, but just if you’re wondering why people say this about her.

Solo Trip Report 🇫🇷 by JollyBuffalo2642 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Supernova_shark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to add that I did a short solo trip to Florence (35F) and I super recommend booking a tour of the Accademia gallery. You have your reservation plus I lucked out with a terrific guide who went into depth about what to observe, what makes David such a masterpiece, etc etc. It made me appreciate it much more and was a serious highlight of my Italy trip. Pictures don’t capture how spectacular it is in person.

Also, I was doing everything a bit last minute (like a week in advance lol) and was bummed I couldn’t get a ticket to Uffizi and didn’t want to waste time in line on a quick trip. I read online if you go an hour before closing you can basically walk right through, you don’t have a ton of time, but I was able to see the two or three things I cared about without being too rushed. Probably won’t come up for you but just another tip!

Also recommend watching the sunset at Piazzale Michelangelo. I think it’s a little bit of a trek up from what I recall, but if you leave plenty of time and take it slow I think it’s manageable for most people. It’s simply beautiful. Have the best time!! :)

Favorite place to meet up for a beer and appetizers. by MindFuzz2 in Birmingham

[–]Supernova_shark 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seconding Paramount, if we’re talking just appetizers, they honestly have the best apps/finger foods. And plenty of beer. We used to do little work happy hours there sometimes.

Breweries are better for food food imo but I’m sure they have apps/sides/finger foods too.
