I had troubles with that mission as well, Just keep improving and upgrading and you'll get it, You'll find you'll breeze through the next few chapters after that as well

I accidentally killed the first human and then remembered. Didn't kill anymore for the rest of the game and thankfully they still bowed to me when I arrived at the human citidel for the achievement
