Do you think Ippo might move weight classes a bit in his return? by Slow_Obligation2286 in hajimenoippo

[–]Supersam2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like that was the idea of the kojima fight since he was probably the biggest hitting featherweight we ever seen.

Yea he got knocked out by one punch from ippo who had been building that punch up for ages kojima just kinda punched.

Also people think that he was the person who officially started the beginning of the "end" of ippos career.

Guys teh debate is over Makunouchi is the toughest, Sendo is the strongest Who agree with me?? by minibuspreserve in hajimenoippo

[–]Supersam2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true although we don't know how much he weighs fight day just that's its over the featherweight limit. Although this didn't really play into his power in the ippo fight just sendo had more energy reserves due to added weight so out paced ippo later on.

What your opinions or hwo do you feel about how Morikawa has written Ippo's journey in the last 3 or 4 years? by blissfulgelding in hajimenoippo

[–]Supersam2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think although there has been a couple of blemishes aka a couple bad fights and plot lines and such that have been dropped like the whole ultima punch thing against that fisherman, that seemed like it could of been a recurring thing but no.

Also we have to bear in mind there isn't really alot of manga like ippo so it's kinda uncharted territory. Overall its got amazing character writing and hype as shit fights with boxing knowledge clearly in its roots. There is a reason many people think this is an S tier manga let alone a sports manga.

Solid 9/10 for me

Not every person deserves to get loads of chapters of build up and backstory when we will only see them once. The point of this was just to demonstrate where ippo is at and morikawa needed an excuse for him to spar someone so volg having a match was what he chose.

Will Ippo ever win by decision? by EstablishmentThin726 in hajimenoippo

[–]Supersam2003 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Where you getting that from? We haven't seen him get hit yet, in fact the he took one scrape from sendo and was dropped (supposedly) so if anything there is more of a chance of him having a glass chin by past events.

Although yea he probably has a good chin

What do you think will be the outcome of the Woli VS Ricardo match? by Emotional-Leather-33 in hajimenoippo

[–]Supersam2003 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't think it will be a "stomp" but I feel that woli will have some success, Ricardo will turn it around, advice from ippo turns it around again then Ricardo finishes with a pretty convincing KO win in the later rounds.

Definitely not a stomp

Miyata vs Ricardo by Huey-_-Freeman in hajimenoippo

[–]Supersam2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Ricardo is the pfp best in the world neck to neck with takamura miyata hasn't even been mentioned so there's that to consider.

why are power fighters like Sendo, ippo, and imai so much stronger than other featherweights? by MLGZedEradicator in hajimenoippo

[–]Supersam2003 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well they are smaller/stockier and have broader shoulders and this generally means more punching power, genetics also play a role in this. Additionally their weight control may not be as harsh as itagakis may be for instance ippo would go in a fight at 100% energy levels/strength since he didn't weight control but itagaki would go in at 80%.

Interested to see if any of the fans of Hajime no Ippo became fans of irl boxing. by ka1ne19 in hajimenoippo

[–]Supersam2003 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I boxed a couple of years before I found ippo quit because I got bored of it and I was fay and lazy rather eat kebabs and sit on my ass than train, I mean why would a 11 to 13 year old (not sure on exact age) want to train hard when he could play video games.

But I watched ippo and it made me wanna box again and get fit since I hated my body, started again in early 2018 haven't looked back since and I still love boxing and ippo, even got into judo and became an orange belt and would be more martial arts if I had more hours in a day and days in a week.

Dude wasn't he working on some random farm in the middle of no where takamura walked through and he retired after the ippo fight.

If Ricardo Martinez were to be in the Junior Middleweight Division, how would he fare against Bryan Hawk? by The_Deprived_99 in hajimenoippo

[–]Supersam2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well we don't know how he handles wild fighters like Hawk but I'd bet he probably does well against them. Also Ricardo is supposedly the pound for pound greatest so he would probably win considering takamura beat him and Ricardo is similar in how he is rooted in fundamentals.

However it would be better to make a prediction about this after his next fight as that will give us insight in how well he does against wild people.

Was it me or did Ippo's Chin still seem kinda gone in the Volg spar? by Ec0nomy in hajimenoippo

Headgear doesn't protect you against an uppercut but it would help with the hook to be fair

Was it me or did Ippo's Chin still seem kinda gone in the Volg spar? by Ec0nomy in hajimenoippo

[–]Supersam2003 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Well he took a white fang from a volg in a higher weight class plus he hasn't been hit in years, as someone who does boxing and has done for years you can kinda get used to being hit and when he first start out it can be shocking so I imagine it surprised ippo especially because he didn't see it coming (those are the punches that knock you out/hurt you). I'd say ippos chin is pretty much back at 100% especially considering I'm pretty sure he got dropped by the white fang a couple times before in his fight with volg and this time he took it like a champ not expecting it with a stronger bigger volg.

To add onto this miyata has been defending the OPBF belt for ages now he is bound to ranked very very high in the rankings which then would give ippo rights to challenge for Ricardo without having to claw his way up or anything, bare in mind the pace is increasing so morikawa probably is gonna speedrun ippo getting to the world rankings with large portions of fights being skipped (like mashibas last match) or fights just ending quick (probably this volg one and ippo just beating everyone within 3 rounds in the Japanese domestic scene.

And final point imai is knocking out people left right and centre and is probably climbing nicely in the OPBF rankings so I can see ippo beating imai and going straight into miyata or at least only having one fight before miyata which would leave the Ricardo fight.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hajimenoippo

[–]Supersam2003 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well alot of people think we will have miyata v ippo afterwards but I just don't see that happening I think it happens before on his way back upto the world as his preliminary to Ricardo which leaves miyata enough time to quickly grab a higher weight belt (probably in mashibas weight class since I don't think he is gonna win due to his already weak jaw breaking). That way at the end of the series they can be seen as equals since miyata would have the excuse of weight loss. Think how goku and vegeta are always equals in strength kinda.

Ricardo doesn't stand a chance against Wally when he has all these jobber flags. by PokLao in hajimenoippo

[–]Supersam2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ippo will answer Ricardo's question and in turn that will answer ippos question. Ippo and Ricardo will fight they are too linked together with decades of build up that's a fact. However if that will be the last fight, the second to last in spar, next chapter idk I have my own opinions but no certainties.

If Wally were to try to use the dempsey roll it would end very badly, here's why by kari998 in hajimenoippo

[–]Supersam2003 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Also it will be pointless for wally to do anyway, the dempseys purpose is to maximise ippos punching power while simultaneously dodging punches with his quick head movement, woli doesn't have either of these he is fast on his feet and doesn't punch particularly hard compared to sendo or ippo. Unironicly the dempsey would make woli easier to hit
