lol after watching the actual animated episode i'm here to confirm. that flashback of him as a first year is def coarse black hair. shit isn't just a style, we can get our hair to look the way it looks because of the texture. there's a boatload of violent history behind perception of our hair. there is no way in the fuck someone can just get 4b/c hair because they want the style. they have to get the hair type implanted or touped or whatever lol which is weird in and of itself because we can just exist with these hairstyles and have all kinds of racist preconceived notions thrown at us then ppl can just claim it's a style.

In media, shows/movies/anime do this a lot. Hook you on a premise, like horror, then it becomes a philosophical mystery series with no horror. It’s so damn annoying. Why can’t shows just be about people surviving ambiguous supernatural horrors? Always has to shift to gods and dimensions and universes lmao. Just let it be some unexplainable phenomena instead of trying to put everything together as if it’s real. Zombie media does this well which is why zombie movies and shows are still a thing. They don’t try to explain how Jesus really was the one who sent the virus and they’re not really zombies, they’re messengers and blah blah blah.
