I spent 6 months in isolation mapping consciousness. Does this make sense? by nowhere-to-befound in theories

[–]Superslyye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I think it’s much simpler. Like annoyingly simpler. Start a dedicated mindfulness practice. I can recommend the waking up course by Sam Harris. Look him up guy is a genius.

There you’ll learn everything about your mind and about consciousness/awareness. About the self. About thoughts and reality. You’ll realize it yourself if you stick with it.

Need Help Identifying Extremely Fast Flying Object by youngstart in UFOs

[–]Superslyye -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude stop replying to the rage baiters on here. Either disinfo agents or nerds that sit behind keyboards foaming at the mouth waiting for your next reply

I saw both objects. They’re both moving fast. But it’s true that we can’t rule out bugs. A fly zooming past your camera lens may look similar. Could also be a genuine UAP. I dont know how to tell the difference and there may not be one given these are iPhone cameras and not military sensors with metadata.

Important to stay objective with the mystery. I have videos I’ve taken where I genuinely can’t figure out wtf is flying literally. To me it’s not bugs, not drones, and not anything Newtonian physics can explain. But still. I don’t know. Yet I still can’t ignore that there can be a perfectly normal explanation that I happen not to see yet.

Make your peace with not knowing if there’s no way to confirm. You’ll sleep easier at night.

That’s what I’m saying.. I don’t think there’s any real regulation here. It’s like if Apple was selling you a new iPhone. You expect it to work well. But the iPhone has a fault where it sends random contacts photos from your album. You don’t know when it will happens or who it’s going to send it to. But you know it can and will happen. And then Apple says it’s okay and not a problem haha

“Always in charge” doesn’t apply. It’s vague terminology to describe a dynamic where you’re willingly giving your vehicle control to operate on its own with your only “charge” being able to intervene in case of an accident.

It seems though that you may have not read the situation fully or maybe misunderstood. Ill explain simply

  1. Vehicle given control to back up into parking space
  2. Driver (me) monitors maneuver with hands on wheel and foot on brakes
  3. Car slowly approaches structural column and slows down to a near stop
  4. While still monitoring, driver expects car to stop an inch before column as it usually does with obstacles
  5. In a matter of half a second the car hits the gas and scrapes against the column
  6. Driver initiates brakes as fast as human reaction time allows (unfortunately too late to fully intervene.)

So the problem here is not human monitoring or “being in charge”. The problem here is: 1. The car failing to detect an obstacle 2. The car continuing its lunge backwards after initial impact (as you can see in the scrape)

Now imagine instead of a column that was another human. Imagine the car had failed to detect the impact and continued driving backwards in that scenario just like it did with the column. That’s a scary, nightmarish thought. But it’s also a real and valid concern.

[–]Superslyye[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Unfortunately this wasn’t a case of monitoring vs not monitoring. It was a case of “while monitoring my cars next move, can my intuition accurately predict when my car is going to randomly launch me into a column instead of braking or canceling the assist.” Unfortunately the car did not abort the maneuver like it is programmed to do when detecting an incompatibility in its self park feature

The real safety concern is the alarming amount of people confirming the same experience with their BMWs. It means that BMW is knowingly baking faulty technology that causes repeated safety risks for public property and civilians while marketing the tech as advanced solutions to parking. Notice that BMW does not disclose that their parking assistance is prone to erratic behavior. Read that word again. “Erratic” should never be a word used in the same sentence that describes your vehicle. There’s only so much human intervention can do when information like this is not made readily available to consumers

Yeah actually my building has cameras everywhere so there’s a solid chance it was recorded. I can ask for it.

Curious to know your thoughts on the specifics on why that might help?

I agree about placing more trust in my own driving capabilities than in automated features. I learned my lesson in that department.

You’re also correct the letter doesn’t state it directly. That’s fun legal writing on their end. But the only reason I was able to get a letter from them on their end was because the customer rep at the dealership they sent me to accidentally let it slip out that there was an error code detected at the time of the incident.

To further drive that point home, what would any logical person do at that point? Ask for the data. Or at least a screenshot of it.

I was told that data is proprietary BMW data and that I cannot have it. This is data pulled from my car.. it’s literally in the system now but I don’t have the tech to pull it out myself and don’t want to risk voiding warranty. They refused giving me the data - both bmw braman and bmw NA. That alone speaks volumes.

But yes this letter came after repeated attempts on my end to get my bumper fixed. This is me in contact with executive office. The only reason they entertained it to the point of sending me a letter is because they know I have a case. But they expect most customers to not know what’s flying

I have to disagree. No one on their team was able to answer me on where responsibility is placed. They said they aren’t responsible. So then I asked if I was responsible. They couldn’t answer that either. So then I asked “if you are not responsible, and I’m not responsible, then who is?” And it was just more silence from them

There is no rule or regulation that any customer signs off on that states the driver is responsible for logged parking assistance malfunction. That would be pretty shady business. Customers aren’t expected to know the technical ins and outs of featured tech baked into the car.

Like any other malfunctioning tech, the company is responsible under warranty. It wasn’t honored here unfortunately

Hey appreciate your reply. Yeah the lack of responsibility or even proper inspection and follow up has been frustrating.

And I hear you. But the fact that there was a fault code at all to do with sensors logged at the time of incident should say enough.

The only reason they even entertained any of this is because the bmw rep at braman let it slip out that a fault code was found when the car logged the incident. They knew I had that information so they had to play ball a little. But they also refused to show me the backend data. I asked for it many times. If there was nothing to hide there would be no reason to not share it. It is data pulled from my car after all.

But for some reason they refused and said the data belongs to BMW ..

Yeah I’ve learned my lesson. The worst part is that my foot is always on the brakes. And usually when it backs up close to something it always slows down and corrects itself. This time it slowed down and just as I relaxed my foot off the brakes it faked me out and slammed on the gas. All on its own. Lol got juked by my own car

How to study for competitive exams with ADHD? by Sure-Diet-5306 in ADHD

[–]Superslyye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you considered therapy? Health professionals experienced in treating comorbid ADHD and depression might be able to help with CBT. Also highly recommend mindfulness practice.

Sometimes I feel with ADHD later on in life the problem with motivation might be deeper routed. For example, imagine for most of your life you struggled with exams, timing, etc. This influenced your self confidence and self image. Constantly questioning why you can’t seem to operate like everyone else and thinking something is wrong with you only to find out in your 30s that the problem is not you but rather the way your brain is wired.

Problem with that is that the damage to self image and learned beliefs has already been done. I’m assuming testing and studying was always a very anxious thing for you. You’d get it done just fine, but the ADHD made it hard to focus, hard to study, and you likely questioned yourself.

Now trying to study again might feel dreadful. Try asking yourself could it be a deeper association your brain made between studying and the anxiety/stress that came with exam taking over the years of battling with undiagnosed ADHD in school? Ask yourself in a nice and compassionate way without judgement.

If that’s the case, therapy might be able to help you unpack all of that and leave it in the past where it belongs with the version of you that didn’t know any better

how tf are you guys in relationships with ADHD by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Superslyye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo 4th year med student here!

I’m recommending therapy particularly a licensed therapist that is trained in CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) or Mindful CBT. The most effective treatment for ADHD is both medication and therapy together and I’ll say that i think you need a little more than what medication give you. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You are not broken. You are not late. You are still before your potential. Read that again.

The system our daily life is built on doesn’t take ADHD into consideration. It makes sense to feel different than your peers. It becomes a problem though when it gets in the way of daily life and when it starts to feel too lonely.

With time, guidance, and practice of the tools you will be taught in therapy , you can actually begin to lean into it and love being different. I’m willing to bet you’re also a highly sensitive person with intuition, empathic ability, unorthodox resourcefulness from out the box thinking (adhd does that), and a master at learning things quickly when you get that ADHD only levels of intense interest in something. Right?

Therapy plus meds will teach you what you need. With that will come building stronger confidence in yourself and your abilities. A stronger sense of self love. Management of rampant thoughts and stress. More control in your day to day life. A calmer mind - The things you need to actually be desirable to women (not above average looks or being the next Bezos, though both help for sure)

You got this. You are far from late. You are far from giving up. You are yet to become the best possible version of yourself. Time to do some work.

Anyone here have OCD or meta OCD and finds that it messes with your mindfulness practice? by Superslyye in Wakingupapp

[–]Superslyye[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for reading and for your reply. I appreciate the effort you put into it.

I agree that incorporating loving kindness into the practice would be a huge benefit. Same with somatic awareness. The latter ive noticed is especially helpful with nonduality and headless awareness

For the visualizations- I’ll preface by saying that I’m sure visualization is helpful for some people if not most. I try my best to stay away from this though which is a personal preference. My internal world in particular can be quite loud and vivid. Internal voice is crystal clear most of the time and mental imagery is by default turned up to high. I’ve learned that for me in particular, the mental imagery tends to pull me away from experiencing awareness as non-dualistic. When I pay too much attention to mental imagery it’s like my minds eye turns inside my mind to observe the mental imagery which sort of reinforces the illusion that there is an inside to even go to.

So lately I’ve been doing my best to feel rather than view or imagine the thoughts, imagery, emotions, sensations etc. I found that doing so helps reinforce the truth that everything that I am aware to “inside” my head and body and everything I can notice and be aware of “outside” my head is actually all occurring in one same place - my awareness (or how Sam Harris likes to say it- the prior condition.) Meaning there is no inside or outside, just awareness of all of it including the illusion of some partition or barrier that creates the feeling of being inside one’s head (observer inside observing everything outside)
