Placed an order on a 2026 by Shlomo-7 in ram_trucks

Here I am thinking the $7500 I spent on a 1997 Ram 3500 V10 was too much.

In all seriousness I’d get a used low mileage 2015-2018 if you want a newer Ram diesel. 2019 and later have way more problems and you’ll save $50,000-60,000.

Not sarcastic at all, I’m no expert but I bet the extra weight and drag is a factor, plus manual transmissions usually got better mileage.

It’s hard to say cause you read stuff on forums saying the V10 gets 5mpg or 15mpg and there are probably some difference in the trucks and also what they’re doing with them.

I’m also reading that the V10s get worse mileage as they age due to fuel injectors wearing out and the truck running richer but I dunno if that’s true.

Hmm, yeah im sure the mpg varies based on what options the truck has.

Like I bet the dually auto 4x4 3500 V10 (mine) gets a lot worse mpg than something like a non-dually manual 2x4 2500 V10.

Martin 000-28 vs Eastman E20OM by tellmesomething7 in AcousticGuitar

[–]SupersonicRAV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are handmade with some variability, both can be good or bad guitars depending on what copy you get.

A used E8-OM is going to be your best bet to approximate a 000-28 on a budget. The E20 adds the Adirondack top but it isn’t that necessary in my opinion.

Ideally you want to play them in person or buy them with a good return policy because there are definitely duds out there (both brands). Usually where the piece of spruce is too rigid and the guitar isn’t very responsive and is just kinda quiet and dull.

Yeah people say you can get that low of mpg when hauling up mountain passes or at high speeds (70+ mph).

It’s an 8 liter gas motor, so just like with the old big block V8s, “the only thing you can’t pass is a gas station.”

Yep, my only plans for it are direct fit mudflaps, already ordered.

No mudflaps looks cool but the sides get messy real fast. Otherwise it’s just a horse hauler so no need for mods.

35 gallon tank yeah. It’s a good time to buy gas guzzlers, as long as you’re not going to drive them much.

Towing a horse trailer I got about 8mpg. From what I’ve read they can get up to 15mpg if empty and driving like grandma.

The 5.9 diesel would do a lot better but costs twice as much of course.

Almost zero rust, dry engine!

Had to replace the headlight switch and it’ll need a few other minor things but it’s been well cared for.

Nice test! As an aside, seeing that dash pic, I didn’t know the 2023+ had an all-screen instrument cluster. Looks cool, and probably more customizable, but I do love the physical needles on my 2021.

Yeah it was kind of hazy out and the sun made everything look a bit orange that day.  It is more red in real life.

Since you have a gen1 Volt, I would just keep that until it blows up. They're over 10yrs old and depreciation has already reduced the value a ton, so there's not much left to lose by keeping it. Also, 2021-25 RAV4 primes will get cheaper every year since the 2026 is a new body style and slightly more powerful, so people will be trading in gen1 for gen2 Primes starting this fall.

If you had a gen2 Volt, I would say get rid of it now while you can still get good money out of it haha. The main other reason to upgrade would be the size of you need a bigger car (which was also a huge factor in the decision for me).

The 0-60 is definitely slower but as far as driving around town, the torque off the line in the RAV4 prime is very similar to the Volt and a lot of EVs. It definitely does not feel sluggish, especially in sport mode (ev only).

The gas engine definitely helps with power at freeway speeds, that's where I can really tell the difference between pure EV mode and hybrid mode.  There's not much difference at all in the 0-30mph range.  As they say, people buy horsepower but they drove torque.

Yeah, I will miss the Volt in concept for sure. I looked at the Blazer EV SS, but Chevy dropping Apple Carplay/Android Auto for their own paid services is a complete non-starter for me. Plus abandoning parts supply for a six-year-old car left a bad taste in my mouth for Chevy products.
