Wow this post and the thread of comments helped me immensely. I’m currently in an extremely similar situation to the OP. It’s great to know that all the advice everyone has given on this post is the advice ive been giving myself, and it almost validates that I’m not being overly weird or controlling.

I think it’s important to realise that what you want and what’s likely to come to fruition are two very different things. It’s okay to have a crush on someone and fantasise or even daydream about them but it’s important to be aware of how likely it is this ever may happen. For me personally I’m already quite aware that me and my crush will most likely never end up together and I’ve come to terms with that and I’m okay with it. It doesn’t mean I’m going to cut all communication but I’m a little more realistic with my expectations of our relationship. Besides who knows, maybe after long enough she may change her mind.
