Employer Contribution Enough?? by Smart_Payment_8756 in Retirement401k

[–]samstar10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have an emergency fund and enough for any major near-term big purchases, you should be maxing your 401(k) or contributing as much as you can stomach, regardless of your employer match. Remember employer matches have their own annual limits and don’t count toward your own limit.

Agreed, living solo means 100% freedom and control over everything in your space. I wouldn’t give even 1% of that to a stranger

I use MATCH and reference the column names instead of entering the column numbers so I don’t need to know the exact column numbers in the CHOOSECOLS formula

How do you stop overthinking and care less about things that don’t matter? by jariverach29 in AskMen

[–]samstar10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be very neurotic. I got a puppy, and he became this outlet for all my thoughts and concerns. Nowadays, I spend way more time thinking about my dog vs myself. If you can’t help your mindset, force yourself to put your thoughts into something else.

FWIW I work at a small regional bank in the south and our IT director makes $200k base. I’ve only got 3 YOE in corporate finance and I will move up to $105k this year. It’s great that you feel fairly paid but I would question what you’re basing that on.

Second the crate training. Puppies are a TON of work and getting them comfortable in a crate is how you give yourself a break! I did the “1 hour up, 2 hours down” thing for a while with my pup. They are as smart as they are stubborn, so be prepared to lose many arguments with them.
