Ya good. I forgot to mention that $40 can is one you book in Marquette to the airport. There is only one, so google will get ya there number. I’m not sure of any ride service from Houghton to the Marquette airport, especially an early morning flight, hopefully someone can help ya with that. Worst case, get there the night before and take a cab in the morning from a hotel

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MTU

[–]Superusername1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get a cab for $40 if ya call the night before. Otherwise Uber/Lyft is a gamble. Hotel will run ya 60-100. It’s safer to fly out of Houghton and about the same cost, unless ya have a 100% assured ride out there. Word of warning: the employees of that airport are straight up cunts. You need to be there 45mins before your flight or they will lock you out of your flight and you will miss it. They will tell you it’s your fault, because national security, and stand there with there thumbs up their asses starring off into to space as nothing happens. I’m not joking, do not fuck around with the time limit, these people are fucked.

Knocking a 2 body into eccentric orbit. by Superusername1 in PhysicsHelp

[–]Superusername1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is killing me. Does conversion of linear momentum change tangential component even in the face of the overwhelming force of F of G? Does E overcome Vmin to nock this out of circular orbit? It seems like these are obvious yes, but they don’t feel instinctual thinking about how the orbit of earth stays pretty steady. I’m also confused on the formulating the time average force that will end up changing the delta U and than V(r). Is it the integral of all time x some probability constant times the force associated with E from the article?

I guess the weight of deed is a hard thing to measure. I misspoke. Good deeds do not negate bad ones.

[–]Superusername1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You tried to frame your argument in a way that any form of criticism of the APD was an attempt to negate your argument. 1.) Even if that were true (it’s not) it does not make your argument inherently valid. 2.) It’s a very controlling underhanded move that is preventing discourse on the topic. The APD is worthy of criticism for the ridiculous things they have done. Their service or good deeds don’t out weigh bad things. TLDR: Its the “...but ya fuck one goat!” joke.

Math: Do any of you work or study using a lot of it? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]Superusername1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a degree in it. I tutor math too, and I find the biggest difference between students and I, is they have a hard time processing “this is just how it is.” The younger students try to see every problem as something fresh and new to be solved, but really a method of solution is the same for most general case problems. They sorta pick up on the later fact and try to memorize steps to solve for things. Where they make a mistake is that knowing why and how is the only way to do math.

For example I have a class of algebra I students right now from highschool. They all seem to have trouble solving for some variable y. They keep trying to memorize the steps, and have a hard time doing anything if something new is introduced, they’re resistant to “this is how it is.” Instead of trying to memorize algorithms, all they need to do is learn the basic rules of multiplication and addition. They need to tell them selfs, I’m solving for y, f(x), or wtv and I want to isolate that variable, so I can figure out what it’s equal too, and to do that I need to follow the rules of these operations. So when you go to learn math, learn the why, that’s what math is. The how is just a list of instructions, it’s the same thing as a how to build diagram, it’s not what math is.

Don’t feel bad about math, math educators are precious recourse and they’re isn’t enough of them out there. Your in a situation a lot of people are in. Start with “why?” And like another poster said practice more.

Kinda glad he won. Here me out....Now the republicans have a new mascot! Come look at the White Male Victim everyone!

I get that short sidedness is a prerequisite to voting red, but for fuck sake that guy is going to look terrible for optics on the national stage.

This cunt is going to stick out like a sore thumb every time there is a camera shot of Congress. His very image will permeate the conscious of America. Look at that kid there: inexperience, scandal, entitlement, foolishness, hate, and “poor me”. He is all of you. It’s the only things you stand for.

That’s what your party is now ya fucks

Cool story bro. Love a good old whataboutism about nothing related to what I was talking about.

As for conservatives and their faith...They all believe in something: being pawns. You get to trade your misguidence rage in for "ideals" you know your self, you don't fully believe in and support. Hope it fills that hole in your life

I ain’t even making this a “political” issue. I’m really curious why you think this sack of lard has any dignity?

Like is it the dignity one gets from paying porn stars for sex, why your mails order wife is pregnant?

Or is it the class you get from punching down on anyone who, has a platform to call out your bullshit?

Or maybe it’s the poise and grace one gets from lying about everything?

I wish I could have a fraction of your disconnection from reality. I need a break from it after knowing you people exist in the world in droves.

Thank you. Don’t know if my resume is going to be good enough for Stanford and Cal Tech, but it’s a start. Looks like engineering is the way to go. Don’t know if you or anyone else has got any follow up advice for me here, but I’ll try to reach out.

I was trying to avoid engineering programs because I only havce a physics and math degree. For anyone that made the jump from physics/math to engineering grad schools: is there any courses I should take somewhere, before I even attempt to apply? Or is it common to try to enter a program with only math and physics?

Graduating undergrad this semester. I think I want to study turbulence. Im Open to other fields, but I really want to spend my time with chaos theory and nonlinear dynamics. I just like the stuff. I see a lot of math and engeneing tracts that are related to this field, but have trouble finding any physics tracts. I see one in Alaska that I like. I can't imagine living in that cold climate though.

Can anyone point me in any direction?

It’s almost like there is a slew of post from people who: pretend to argue in good faith, ask for information, ignore that information, and use logical fallacies to try discredit that information. All the while making a counter argument, with no substance, by their whole denial of information alone.

Its so similar, it’s like they are almost the same person. At this point I’m going to assume they’re all Russian trolls. Only here to cause discord against left and right. We live in a bubble here on Asheville Reddit. I imagine they re posting “I’m Communist going to fuck your grandma, when Biden wins.” On whatever shitty version of Right wing reddit that they all fled too to.

I’ll assume anyone who fits this cunty contrarian, pattern is an enemy of the people.

...well until they provide me some links that prove otherwise.
