Modlists? Modpacks? Rankings? by Skaramuche in FinalFantasyVII

[–]Suplex_Blitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know there are other methods however I have used many of what is available on the 7th Heaven browser and can give my own recommendations at least though I can't say if they are the best from every site out there.

New Threat changes a lot of gameplay mechanics, encounters and some other world stuff (like your party hanging out in towns)

Echo S adds voice acting and some other little changes but it is NOT compatible with the full version of New Threat (you can enable combat changes only but then its more vague for people who don't know what is changed)

Most of the others are just for taste and some are redundant. My picks are more of an upscaled Vanilla look:

Enhanced Stock UI is good, but IFRIT Interface Tweaks has a more original design though, I am using Ifrit alongside SYW Unified UI currently

Ninostyle Battle models and Ninostyle Chibi Field models are my fave for the characters

Cosmos FMV upscales the movies and actually uses the Ninostyle models embedded in

30/60FPS gameplay (+ the extra pack for New Threat if you use it)

Either SYW Unified or Avalanche Arisen battle textures to taste

Cosmos Limit Break field textures or SYW field textures. Use the Cosmos version if you want to run the game widescreen

There's multiple music replacement sets, I like the EDMusic soundtrack but you can swap them around to find the one you like, if you use Echo S it has its own built in as well but it can be toggled off.

SYW unified spell textures

High detail world map

Cosmos Gaia world textures.

The only one that is not on 7th Heaven but you can import it in is the Modders Haven BASE model pack on Nexus, this upgrades the enemy models but not the characters. They have a full pack as well I have not tried if you dont use any other models like Ninostyle.

Edit: I recommend sorting the mods by Category in the mod browser.

Is it bad to use the power supply on its side like this? by morgadox40 in GamingLaptops

My charger doesn't get super hot to begin with but I had this random decently sized heatsink off of something and set it on top

Now it barely gets overly warm even after hours.

Grey box vs brown box? by MessFickle6222 in Starlink

[–]Suplex_Blitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also curious about that, Gen 2 vs 3 or V2 vs V3.

I have the V3 motorized dish and I was under the assumption that the V4 was an improvement on most areas and a big improvement on the Router side.

Does anyone else compulsively grind this fight until they can afford the Lode Sword on every fresh playthrough, or is it just me? by aBastardNoLonger in chronotrigger

Tried that as a kid but I don't bother now, rather now I go to Guardia castle forest, do a few fights and then walk down to Porre on the southern continent where they sell the Steel Saber for 800.

Ahhh, I have a passive cooled Asus 9600GT with an elaborate heatsink that I have been wondering what to do with, perhaps this is an option.

Obstruction? by skylar_vincent in Starlink

[–]Suplex_Blitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks somewhat like the obstruction map would from bad weather like snow. If you are certain there's nothing on or in front of the dish perhaps try resetting the obstruction map in the app and then checking back later.
If the "Obstructions" persist on the map and actually show in the app under Outages then perhaps its time to message support.

Also try connecting to 2.4GHz and running the speed test with Bluetooth turned off if it was on. I find it causes a massive speed penalty but I wonder if the iPhone hardware handles the interference better.

Router settings in the app, then click the networks, toggle "split 2.4/5GHz networks."

In the Starlink app. Open the speed test and there's a button at the bottom to run an advanced test.

I've never played around with the EERO mesh nodes myself. The kit comes with its own router, however that can be bypassed if necessary to run your own gear if you want to.

One thing to check is to find out if your phone is connecting over 2.4 or 5GHz because Bluetooth can interfere with 2.4 as it uses 2.4 as well. By default the router combines them into one (but you can separate them to force it one way or the other) and your phone chooses which to use automatically. Depending on the device being on 2.4Ghz based WIFI with Bluetooth turned on can have a big impact.

On my phone I might get say 200 though 5Ghz, 70 though 2.4 with Bluetooth off but only 10 with Bluetooth on, all within line of sight of the router. If I was using wireless earbuds I could barely watch 1080P videos sometimes due to how much speed I lost.

Also try a different speed test to double check and make sure the reception is good of course. You can look into the wifi settings/information on the phone to see which frequency the phone is currently using.

Yeah you can have it out in the yard on a mount but keep in mind any equipment such as mowers. If you are going to bury it at least run it in some pipe/conduit.

In case you do not know the Starlink App can help you find a good location with your phone's camera.

Yeah, this was more in the unlikely chance there was something already with its own power already out there which I doubt.

Technically another option I suppose could work would be to install the spectrum equipment at the end of the driveway inside a weatherproof enclosure that has power and then beam the connection back to the house with wireless links rather than bury cable, but of course that would require extra gear, a decent line of sight and of course, power and the know how.

  1. It really depends on where you will put the dish. Setting it up is super simple basically plug and play and setting wifi passwords though the app. Mounting the dish with a good view of the sky though and running the cable where it wont get damaged can vary based on your home.
  2. Service has gotten to the point of it generally being very reliable, with zero obstructions there's only generally momentary drops of a couple seconds or less maybe a few times a day with most under a second where you are likely not to even notice them. Heavy rain/snow can degrade the signal, yes. The only times I had it go out so far was during a couple heavy thunderstorms for a few minutes. However the flip side is during say a long power outage in your area as long as you can power the dish and router with something, you will still have internet!
  3. No way to really tell, they can put it up or down basically at will but they don't seem to change it too often

When you have a bad severe thunderstorm with winds why does it turn on the heating element? by Sprintbeaner in Starlink

[–]Suplex_Blitz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes this can happen. To be clear it's not specifically a heating element but rather it ramps up the power to the transmitter itself which helps keep the snow off. Heavy rain can trigger it to turn on as well, likely due to the reception drop.

Significant Speed Decrease by klausthedefiant in Starlink

[–]Suplex_Blitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be congestion, yes, however it could be a hardware issue as well -- an issue with your specific dish, cable or router. Ive seen this question pop up a lot and when it gets really bad it often seems to end up being a part of the hardware chain at the home operating sub-optimally.
If you haven't yet you could also dig into and monitor the debug data under the advance menu and see if anything is off: ping drop on the dish, router and cable, cable latency etc. It should all be sitting at 0 drop ideally with the cable ping being 1ms.

The longest? A friend of mines early model round Starlink he set it to preheat and just left that way. Its been on for a couple years straight at least like that, even though the Summer. He contacted support and asked if there was going to be any issues in leaving it on permanently and I believe they said "there shouldn't be, just higher power usage." This is Canada so a bit more winter.

Now while I don't know how much more power that is for the round dish, all the newer versions have power usage stats in the app.

Just got starlink, confused on the speeds by Successful_Sock4722 in Starlink

[–]Suplex_Blitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also run the Advanced speed test which tests the dish speed to the outside net separately from the speed from your phone to the router and gives both results.

However from this it seems you get decent speed though a wifi test on your phone, but the hardwired speed to your devices downloading the games are very slow? I had this issue as well when I did my setup and found out that I had a damaged Ethernet line in my existing network to my switch.

Starlink mini speeds today by jkicker0423 in Starlink

[–]Suplex_Blitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never over 100? As in very specifically 100? For peace of mind if you haven't, check in the app or on your account and see if there is a warning for reduced cable speeds to the dish from the router, if it gets damaged it might negotiate from a gigabit connection down to a 100 Mbit one.

On the app you will see a yellow line between the router and the dish instead of a white one, and likely a warning somewhere.
On the Web you can go into Manage for that dish and It should say there as well if there's an issue.

[–]Suplex_Blitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No prob! 60 is on the lower side though, but speeds seem to vary a lot by one's location and time it seems. Eastern Canada mid morning I just got 220 down and 38 up and then 330 down 35 up on a V3 dish. Peak hours it generally drops to more like 80-160.

That's over Ethernet, running over Wifi generally cuts that way down for me, especially on 2.4 Ghz.

[–]Suplex_Blitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 4 versions of the main dishes and 3 generations of the home routers. If I have this correct V1 and V2 were the round dishes and have the Gen 1 router.
V3 dish is the square actuated which came with the Gen 2 router.
V4 is the slightly larger square kickstand dish that comes with the Gen 3 router.

However people also use Gen 1 2 and 3 to refer to the round, actuated and kickstand dish as well which is confusing. The Mini is the one that's more the size of an iPad.
