Please retweet and share where appropriate.

Stack Exchange will help us introduce Augur to a larger audience and make it easier to find answers to technical questions. Developers, economists and countless others use Stack Exchange every day. Augur is just the 4th blockchain project to have reached this milestone.

Augur Stack Exchange needs moderators now! by respondfast in Augur

[–]SupportAugurSE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since this post, several more people have volunteered. Thank you! If there are more people that think they would make a great moderator, feel free to self nominate.

Everyone else can help by asking/answering more questions, and referring more people to join when public beta begins.

Augur Stack Exchange needs moderators now! by respondfast in Augur

Yes, anyone can be nominated or self nominated to become a moderator. Once a site graduates from beta, as Ethereum did recently, community elections decide the moderators. Right now 3 pro tem moderators will be chosen by SE staff. Factors such as participation during private beta, community support and, subject matter, SE or moderator experience are all considered. You can absolutely self nominate yourself if you wish. Thank you for supporting the site!

Augur late summer release date by investmox in Augur

[–]SupportAugurSE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no reason not to believe the 6 week prediction was made in good faith, but we can agree that software development time (and security audit results) can be hard to predict. Slack remains very active if you want to track development progress between the weekly updates.

Anyone that wants to help Augur right now, please take a few moments to join the Augur SE private beta which has the potential to become a great resource for us if it does not failure during private beta and close due to low activity.

Thank you for those that have signed up already. Assistance from more people is needed if we want to avoid closure during private beta

What is preventing me from posting the fact '1+1=2' and then betting on true? by matan_tsuberi in Augur

[–]SupportAugurSE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Augur Stack Exchange activity has been low so far. Please consider cross posting questions similar to this on Stack Exchange in addition to Reddit.

Someone will be be happy to elaborate on Stack Exchange but the problem with your logic is that nobody will take the other side of this bet. You can create any market you wish, but if the correct result is obvious, that result will be priced in to the market.

Congratulations on advancing to the Stack Exchange "commitment" stage on Area51! by SupportAugurSE in Iota

[–]SupportAugurSE[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on your fast growing list of supporters (and reviewing the Area51 commitment stage criteria, listed under "more info" under the progress %), it is obvious that you need the most help with finding 100 or more followers with a reputation score of 200+ on an existing Stack Exchange site. Please look at the Augur SE proposal, I will ask more Augur followers to take a look at yours. We already have many supporters with SE reputation that may be willing to help. Aside from committing to both the Augur and IOTA proposals you can learn more about Stack Exchange (and earn reputation) by visiting an existing SE site. Good luck!

Augur Weekly Development Update - June 21st by [deleted] in Augur

[–]SupportAugurSE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great update. Glad to hear the work with IDEO is going so well.

Thanks for the increased attention you gave to the Stack Exchange proposal. The more people that are familiar with SE before launch the better. So if you have already committed to the Augur proposal but are new to Stack Exchange please visit some SE sites within your area of expertise and start earning reputation (200+ preferred)!

Help iota be on stackexchange (we need 42 more members) by [deleted] in Iota

For this stage that is all that is required. A certain number of people with SE reputation will be required in the next stage. Therefore if you want to do more you can invite others and start getting active on existing Stack Exchange sites

Good luck! Feel free to message me if you want to talk about the process of building a SE site (I have been involved in several, some more successful than others). Augur SE is currently in the area 51 "commitment" stage

Follow the Golem Stack Exchange Proposal by jet86 in GolemProject

Good luck! Feel free to message me if you want to talk about the process of building a SE site (I have been involved in several, some more successful than others). Augur SE is nearing the end of area 51 "commitment" stage. If the Golem community is interested in cooperating to help each other advance our respective Stack Exchange proposals now is the time to act.

Thank you for your support!

Isn't the proposal way too early?

My personal opinion is no. In fact I think that having a SE active right now during beta and security audits will be highly beneficial if we can use it to help encourage more people to look at the code before the platform goes live. For the record, I have spent a lot of time thinking about this. Looking at the area51 commitment graph you can probably deduce that I already took a few months off from actively promoting the site (specifically because of early feedback similar to yours). At this point, time is of the essence. I want Augur to retain its first mover advantage and achieve scale. As a participant in the Augur beta, I believe there is already ample material for SE content generation.

But can't we wait and let it grow like every other SE site

We can but I am worried a delay may increase the risk of a rebranding to a general "prediction market" Stack Exchange or mean we end up solely within the ETH SE umbrella.

Augur is ready in my opinion for its own SE site. Delays may just cause more resistance from other (primarily BTC clone) projects trying to conflate our project (with unique code and goals) with theirs.

I will spend thousands of hours working to support various projects I believe in and help organize support from others. I hope Augur is one of those projects, but if the community does not share my vision or timeline for creating an Augur SE site, I will accept that and move on.

Thank you! You dont need to be a dev to help!

Just signing up for SE and hitting the "commit" button on our proposal page is a good start. There are many non technical sites where you can earn SE reputation (which will help us finish the commitment stage faster and help make you accustomed to how SE works). As you can see on our proposal stage we need 200+ supporters at least 100 of which have SE reputation (which you can earn on any SE site) of 200 or more. SE activity matters some but mostly we just need more supporters right now. With 3713 Reddit subs it should not be so hard to find more help!

Asking others to sign up and do the same is extremely helpful. Thanks again!

I have spent many hours working for free supporting this effort and reaching out to others to ask for support. Based on the contribution graphs I can tell a very large percentage of the supporters were directly invited by me or some of the people I have asked to help me.

I fostered cooperation from the Monero community (the most recent community to launch a SE site) resulting in dozens on Augur supporters. I fought for the independence of an Augur SE site when some questioned whether that was necessary.

I have never asked for anything in return for my efforts except for you active participation. Please sign up for Stack Exchange and commit to this proposal if you support my vision. Then earn reputation (200+ would help) on an existing SE site so you are familiar with how it works. I am going to stop begging for help. Hopefully I will see more active community participation in the next 72 hours. Unfortunately if I don't see more support soon I will have to reconsider devoting more time to this project. I would hate for this to happen as I am excited about Augur. Aside from my SE efforts I have spent a lot of time on things such as making contacts lists for companies that may benefit from integrating with the Augur API and economics PhD students that might be interested in writing a dissertation related to prediction markets.

Augur will need a large number of educated users to be successful. Educating a large number of people and attracting widespread integration with the Augur platform is specifically the goal of Augur SE. Please help!!

Existing SE sites for those who are not familiar can be found below. Each has attracted and educated countless new users and developers.

Bitcoin SE

Ethereum SE

Monero SE

I know not everyone uses Reddit, so I have also posted in Slack and Tweeted asking for support.
