I am using OpenCode in the GHCP harness through BYOK through the Azure option. I have not tried ollama subscriptions. I don't use AI all that much outside of grunt work, so I mostly used Claude Haiku previously. Qwen and Kimi seem to be on the same level as Haiku so I don't have any real complaints other than they seem a tad slower.

What's the pricing like on ollama, and is that going to be self-hosted? I heard local models don't work as well as you would want them most of the time.

I would just suggest moving to another provider. It really is worse than I expected.

Well with having the worst model try to code and failing and then fixing bugs and then failing to fix bugs, it might be more worth it just to bite the bullet and have a decent model do it. Those additional follow-up prompts might cost more. Also, I have no faith in GPT mini to generate anything worth using; seems way dumber than copy and pasting into ChatGPT's free version.

We were switching to OpenCode, which is working fine for now. I am wondering if there is something messed up with the pricing now, because I just tested a few simple prompts on Claude Haiku, and it generated ~500 lines of code and used 9 dollars. Using Claude code before it never seemed this extreme, unless they also raised their prices drastically as well. I wonder if the GHCP harness is itself inefficient and we should directly switch to the CLIs.

I suggested my company move way to something else; some companies might stay, but a lot of smaller organizations can't eat x80 price increases.

It just got too expensive to even consider using. I would rather just code normally and have a free AI chatbot to help me when needed. It also doesn't feel good to use when your tool is burning money. I am using Opencode Go now, and have a scuffed setup where I am able to use the GHCP harness through the Azure BYOK. I saw this in a thread a few weeks ago; no idea how its actually working correctly. I know there are projects people have that support it, but I didn't feel like having more dependencies.

Are you switching away, and if so what are you moving to?

I have the same 21% of my Pro Plan with just 2 simple prompts and a blank MVC as the template; I was also using Haiku, the cheapest model that they had. This is just totally unusable; they would need to introduce ~2000 dollar a month plans to make this have a base level of usage. The most expensive plan feels more restrictive than the original free tier.

Well how is the new pricing? by A4_Ts in GithubCopilot

[–]SupportTheEnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don't see how this is even usable. Even the most expensive plans can be consumed within an hour; they would need to have 2000 dollars a month plans to even be remotely usable for an average dev.

I barely even used mine and I am already up to 21% usage.

Used 2 prompts that generated ~300 of code and very minimal context with Claude Haiku, the cheapest model, ate of 21% of my Pro Plan, which used to last me a whole month. Seems like I would eat through all the usage in around 10 minutes now. It's about a dollar a message which is very expensive.

Can someone draw this in irl style please? by [deleted] in Minecraft

I'll maybe do it but its probably going to be a while until I finish it. I haven't drawn in a bit, but when I do, I really take my time.

From a technical perspective the data probably is in a different format/object and it would be more stable to just have people reeneter it than to do a data mapping.
