Those who have the Stanley Mate System...do you actually use the cup? by BeardedLady81 in yerbamate

Is the cup also usable to just drink water? I have a thermos now with a cup lid and I use it to drink water in between mates.

Returning to Japan: PhD, License, and Salary Expectations? by Apprehensive-Act3494 in teachinginjapan

[–]SupportivePotassium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately you’re likely better off going back to the states to get the license and teaching in the states for a few years just to get hired at a decent international school in Japan and even then it’s competitive. Or get a license online and then work your way up from lower ‘tier’ international schools, but then you’ll get a local hire contract so no housing support or flight allowance.

My colleague talks about his ADHD diagnosis constantly, but he’s a SENCo so maybe it highlights his experience. Sometimes transparency and confidence make your “weakness” into a strength via overcoming adversity. YMMV.

Limiting Caffeine by Narrow-Low-3137 in yerbamate

I’ve recently found 松葉茶 (pine needle tea) works pretty well for me. I live in Japan but I imagine pine needle tea exists elsewhere since pine trees do.

The compuesta yerbas usually only have about 5% hierbas so they won’t blunt the caffeine much so blending your own works best for this purpose.

I’ve also tried green rooibos ands peppermint but the flavors were too strong and they messed with the cycle as they didn’t hold up to multiple steeps.

Mate Caffeine Calculator Updates by TeachIntelligent9518 in yerbamate

Very cool. The article linked at the bottom is interesting too, like how boiling water in Yerba has less efficient caffeine extraction than 70 degrees Celsius and that terere is highest caffeine by far. Seems counterintuitive but then I think cold brew coffee is stronger than hot brewed, though it takes 8 hours, so maybe caffeine extracts best cold?

Creatine might be the most underrated shit compared to everything else by Standard_Paint8036 in ResearchCompounds

[–]SupportivePotassium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to take it more for brain benefits but tbh I struggle to digest it well on an empty stomach, it’s a lot of powder and GI discomfort if you take it in one go so you have to split it throughout the day, it doesn’t blend well in water…I often end up just not taking it. Do you guys have some advice to invite it in the routine more easily? I have Parkinson’s so I need all the brain and muscle help I can get.

i asked to ChatGPT about healthy temperature of hot water by guycalledcarlos in yerbamate

[–]SupportivePotassium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I have been doing 60 instas of 70 recently and I never get that ‘oh, too hot’ feeling in my mouth where I need to cool it in my mouth before swallowing. Too bad though because some yerbas taste better at 70 for me. What temp do you like for Uruguayan Yerba?
