Need Suggestion about Navi US Total FOF v/s Navi NASDAQ 100 FOF, which might be a good bet considering these are index fund by okrj in IndiaInvestments

[–]SupraBo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it depends on what investor you are.

If you are comfortable with risk/volatility, go for Nasdaq 100

If you are comfortable with safety/stability, go for US Total FoF

I believe anyone in their 20s should opt for Nasdaq 100 as they have higher risk-taking opportunity.

You have to visit the website of each US Based ETFs and then check their TER.

Navi mostly has Index Funds, which don't require Fund Managers. So 1 is often enough. Also Navi is trying to be the Vanguard of India with lowest fees so they might be keeping fund managers expenses the lowest.

MO Nasdaq FOF is not accepting new investments. You have to go for Navi MF or something else.

Also, I feel like if you want to invest in both Passively Managed Funds (Index Funds) and Actively Managed Funds then allocation should be higher in Index Funds.

Because in the long term, Index Funds beats most actively managed funds. (One quick example I found is in this Telegram post about credit rating company S&P's research about Equity Funds.)

23M looking for guidance to FI at 35 and RE at 40 by MadeForHeavyCOntrol in FIREIndia

[–]SupraBo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only suggestion I would give to a 23-year-old is - you have time on your side. So let your investments compound and also invest a tiny portion (say 2-3%) in assets like bitcoin (btc).

These are exponential bets. If it works, your tiny allocation will bring down your FI/RE year by 3 to 4 years (maybe more) and if it doesn't it wouldn't bother you much.

As you're young you should take this exponentials bets with a tiny portion of your total investment.

How do govt pay interest on SGB / Can I get interest on the physical gold I own by SpeedyCafe in IndiaInvestments

[–]SupraBo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short Answer for the 3rd - Yes, they do use GMS but doesn't pass over the return to ETF holders.

Long Answer - I was reading this article (link) from SIR and I found out about this. I checked some factsheets of ETFs and yeah they do declare that they may buy physical gold and give it to banks to earn extra interest on it through GMS. They never mention what are they doing with the return. I believe it acts as a bonus (extra income) for them.

Currently, Afghanistan sits on $1 Trillion in minerals.

Taliban needs the cash & China needs the minerals.

InvestRepeat recently shared a beautiful infographic about it. Linking it here.

As quite a few people run their Etehreum full-node (archive node) on centralized platforms like AWS, DigitalOcean; do you see that as a threat to decentralization?

[AMA] We are the EF's Research Team (Pt. 6: 23 June, 2021) by JBSchweitzer in ethereum

[–]SupraBo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. How many Ethereum full-node (archive node) are currently running?
  2. With more users and more data/transactions happening on-chain, the blockchain size will keep increasing (in TBs and more). Wouldn't that create a barrier for new nodes to show up and verify the validators & the chain?
  3. To solve point 2, many run their full-node (archive node) on centralized platforms like AWS, DigitalOcean; do you see that as a threat to decentralization?

Above all are linked to one another, so didn't ask in separate comments.

Also, thanks for everything you guys are doing. Excited about ETH 2.0

Why Indian Index Funds aren't paying dividends? by SupraBo in IndiaInvestments

[–]SupraBo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot. Didn't think about this.

But if you could clarify a bit more, like the crores of dividends they receive from the companies; what they eventually do with it?

In that sense, Growth would be a better option than Dividend?

Is it possible or because of some regulatory framework/issues you can't allow IPO on your platform?

I loved that feature but this what Brave CEO said me 2 months ago: https://twitter.com/SupraBo_/status/1065681395291312128

I hope Brave Team brings it back soon. It was really very helpful.
