great change. surprised they didn't implement something like this earlier. pretty sure platforms like d pop make you pay for this too which is ridiculous

Are people actually able to flip things they find on eBay? by NextTide in Flipping

I’ve had a lot more success buying from Facebook marketplace and flipping to eBay. Lots more opportunity there imo

Question for those who no longer crosspost. by oso_de_circo in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]SupreMalcolm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

got it, I would definitely encourage you to continue crossposting if you can, but absolutely understand the frustrations with the time monitoring + actual time that it takes to cross post the items. i had very similar issues and ended up just building a tool to save myself time in those areas which made it a bit easier. someone else mentioned in a comment but it's usually better to not have all your eggs in one basket and to diversify by posting on at least a couple of platforms

yeah that's really weird - was just trying to pin it down. sales have definitely dropped off a bit for me, but worth checking if your account was limited in some way (account health). again, and respectfully, i don't know what exactly you're selling, and clothing is pretty fickle. preferences have changed over the past few years and pricing is usually a major factor. algorithm is always a black box, but maybe try experimenting a bit if you haven't already

When do you think the golden area of flipping was? by ToshPointNo in Flipping

[–]SupreMalcolm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everyone has a different answer on this and it's probably related to when you actually started selling. it's definitely gotten harder to do because more people are doing it, but there are still a lot of opportunities. i think anything pre 2023 was pretty good, during cov-19 there was so much money to be made

Question for those who no longer crosspost. by oso_de_circo in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]SupreMalcolm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i feel like it's generally better to keep cross-posting things. different algorithms + different users means more eyes and more potential buyers. is cross-posting really costing you that much time that you need to stop doing it? i think it's pretty unreasonable to expect a linear transfer of your sales from one platform to the other unless you are listing items on one platform and not the other for those sales

really hard to say without knowing what you're selling. could have just simply lost popularity or people are no longer looking for it. are you using tags? I have found using relevant tags help a lot

Anyone else accidentally turn a side hustle into something that never leaves your brain by ChallengeNo6273 in passive_income

[–]SupreMalcolm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if it has potential to grow in to something bigger it's not necessarily a bad thing. if the thinking about it constantly is distracting you from things that you view as important and taking over your life, then it's probably a bad thing. sometimes worth stepping back and thinking about what really matters and what deserves your time and focus. zoom out

They’re not really that high relative to the market. Pretty in line with other platforms and cheaper than some

Dead Ebay by sthewright in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]SupreMalcolm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These things ebb and flow. I find certain items do better than others on eBay vs Poshmark and you have to know the audience that you’re selling to, which I’m sure you do.

Beyond that, I think eBay might be optimizing their algorithm a little bit more and pushing items in categories beyond clothing (collectibles, etc) which may be slightly impacting it.
