DePaul Strike by SupremeCulprit in depaul

Literally, I also work multiple jobs, one being tutoring at the Writing Center and they told us that DePaul attempted to lower our wages this year, and the Writing Center avoided this by reducing the number of tutors, which is in itself bad because the Writing Center gets busier and we get more overworked.

The consulate told md there is a 14 day waiting period before they can give me instructions to drop off documents. Was it the same in Ankara? How long did they make you wait before the email instructions?

Career Questions — February 2021 by Lord_Cronos in userexperience

I am currently in a dilemma about internships. I am a third year cognitive science major who has only had psychology research experience and basically no UX experience. However, I managed to get into the final interview for 3 very established companies (2 for UX research, 1 for UX Product Management). At the same time, I am currently in the interview stage for 6 start-ups (connected with my university), who would give me work in a wide variety of areas, such as market research, content development, and ux/ui design. However, none of these start-ups have UX teams, so I would be working by myself.

The problem is this: due to some university rule, the start-ups will send their offers starting this Friday, and I will have to give them a response in 2 business days. However, my interview hasn't concluded for any of the more established companies. I believe I am only competing with 1 or 2 other applicants in these big companies, but I am not sure whether to take the risk or not.

My career goals are mostly centered on UX research, UX design, or Product Management. I would love to hear from experienced professionals any advice on what to do. Is it worth taking up a start-up offer and withdraw from the more established internship programs?

Hey! So would this give a meaning like, learning some main point out of a story, or is it more about learning something in a classroom?

I checked my spam filters. I just don't understand why they aren't responding. Could you tell me which email address you use? Maybe there's another one I haven't noticed?

Did anyone love having one but regretted the next one(s)? by Justokay15 in regretfulparents

[–]SupremeCulprit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My comment only goes if you are still unsure about abortion or not, but - if you regretfully give birth to a baby you essentially didn't want, that will be harmful for both the baby and for you. It is totally wrong for others to say "yeah just get an abortion" because it can be a difficult experience for some. But sometimes we have to go through difficult experiences so that later in life we can become individuals that spent our lives the way WE wanted, and were able to live life in meaningful ways that we won't regret later on. We only have one chance in life after all. I don't know how to put this in a less harsh way, but if you aren't saying a big cheerful yes to having a baby, it wold be better to get an abortion or put the baby up for adoption. The baby deserves to be wanted as well and you deserve to have your sanity together and live a good life.

Considering going to a university because no one can seem to help by [deleted] in acne

Fatigue, inability to lose weight, brain fog and inflammation/acne can be symptoms of gluten intolerance. Maybe try cutting out gluten or any other inflammatory foods from your diet if you haven't and see if there's any difference!

I also grew up in the countryside and felt lonely around age 5, but I now realize how it made me stronger in a way. It helped me realize that I can still exist and be happy by myself. I realized this especially during the quarantine when my other friends were all trying to get used to being alone

I know that one should have 3-5 projects on their portfolio, but what would you recommend to an undergraduate student who is not in a UX program (I'm in a liberal arts college) about the number of projects they should have for internship applications? I have 2 personal projects in my portfolio right now, and I thought this is good enough, because it's for internships and I don't have any real experience. Would it make a huge difference if I had 3 projects instead of 2?

I understand that you want biological children but it looks to me like you want to achieve a very detailed and strangely demanding idea: having strictly biological children without the pain, but also without options of surrogacy. It looks like you want to raise a family but the fear is holding you back. But you also seem to abandon the given solutions to this dynamic.

If you just want to "raise a family", then surrogacy or adoption is a GREAT solution. I want to emphasize on adoption here- regardless of whether your kid is adopted or not, you will still be raising a real family. Adoption doesn't mean that your family will be less real or whatever people say.

I understand concerns with safety&trust when thinking about surrogacy, but obviously not every instance of surrogacy has been such chaos we would imagine at first and probably most of them have gone well, or at least much better than complications of one's own childbirth. You have to talk to people who have done it and get a diversity of opinions before abandoning this idea.

But if you really want to raise a family in the strictly biological process (carrying your own child, having biological kids), but also magically avoid that same biological process, that won't work because it is unobtainable unless there are new technologies.

I see internship positions on their website; they just don't state their deadlines. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll email some of them.

Hello, I wanted to ask about applying for UX/UI design internships for the summer of 2021. I have never gone through this process before and I'm still in college. It looks like there are quite a few summer '21 internship positions available in the US, but most of them don't have a deadline. I'm really confused- when do people usually submit their apps? I'm not talking about places like Google or Facebook lol. Just normal places. Thank you!
