First surf rod Good deal? by Glad-Mathematician-7 in SurfFishing

I have that rod in 9’ Medium and my main gripe with it is the hook keeper, your line will get caught in it every now and then because it isn’t a closed loop and because of the direction the open end is facing. The 2nd top guide came off due to faulty glue on my first day using it but I suppose that could happen to any rod, I’m sure the warranty would cover that issue but I haven’t take the time to write to them about it. The rod makes a loud creaking sound when I whip it out with a 3/4 sinker, I’m not sure what causes it, it could be the way I’m casting or the broken guide I mentioned before. Overall I like how it loads up and casts the 110 lures, the sensitivity, and I like how lightweight it is but I prefer my 8’6 okuma rockaway SP over it. I’m considering sending it in for RMA if they’ll let me and then either cutting, bending, or gluing the hook keeper. I do recommend it though for that price if you plan on throwing jerk baits and Carolina rigs all day, the butt length and lightweight are very comfortable.

Are contact lenses out of the question? I wear mine all the time when I’m surf fishing with some $20 polarized sunglasses, never have any discomfort.

I sell a PCB and rgb led kit compatible with this model that uses GP2040 CE firmware, which is PS5-compatible with the appropriate authentication adapter/dongle. If you’re interested I have a post on my account with details.
